An experienced line cook, often called a chef de partie, is a skilled professional responsible for managing a specific station (such as grill, sauté, or fry) in a fast-paced commercial kitchen. They execute high-quality dishes with speed and precision, typically requiring 1–4 years of prior professional kitchen experience. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]Core Responsibilities

Station Management: Setting up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies (mise en place) before service begins. [1, 2]
Culinary Execution: Preparing and cooking menu items exactly to the Executive Chef's specifications, following established recipes and presentation standards. [1, 2]
Coordination & Timing: Communicating effectively with other line cooks and Sous Chefs to ensure all components of an order are finished simultaneously and delivered promptly to the front-of-house staff. [1, 2]
Food Safety: Maintaining strict compliance with health and sanitation regulations, including proper food storage (labeling/dating) and cleaning workstations. [1, 2]
Inventory Control: Monitoring stock levels at their station and reporting shortages to management to assist in ordering supplies. [1, 2]

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in various cooking methods (grilling, sautéing, poaching, roasting) and exceptional knife skills. [1, 2]
Physical Stamina: The ability to stand for 8–10 hour shifts, work in high-temperature environments, and lift up to 50 pounds. [1, 2]
