The Nursery Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the nursery and farm, including plant production, crop maintenance, inventory management, staff supervision, equipment oversight, and general farm operations. This position ensures healthy plant growth, efficient operations, and a safe, organized working environment while meeting production and operational goals.
Oversee daily nursery and farm operations, including planting, watering, fertilizing, pruning, harvesting, and pest management.
Monitor plant and crop health to ensure proper growth and production.
Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate nursery and farm staff.
Operate and oversee irrigation systems and ensure proper watering schedules are maintained.
Assist with soil preparation, planting schedules, and seasonal crop rotations.
Maintain inventory of plants, seeds, fertilizers, chemicals, tools, feed, and farm supplies.
Operate, inspect, and coordinate maintenance for farm equipment and machinery.
Ensure proper care and maintenance of nursery grounds, farm property, fences, storage buildings, and equipment areas.
Implement pest, weed, and disease prevention and treatment programs.
Assist customers with plant selection, care recommendations, and product information as needed.
Coordinate ordering and receiving of materials, supplies, and inventory.
Maintain accurate records related to inventory, production, harvests, employee schedules, and equipment maintenance.
Ensure nursery and farm areas remain clean, organized, and visually appealing.
Monitor labor and operational costs to maintain budget expectations.
Assist with seasonal projects, landscaping, deliveries, and special events as needed.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, agricultural, and company safety standards.
High school diploma or GED required; degree or certification in horticulture, agriculture, farm management, or related field preferred.
Minimum of 2–5 years of nursery, farming, agriculture, or horticulture experience.
Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of plant care, irrigation systems, fertilizers, pest control, and farm operations.
Experience operating farm equipment and machinery preferred.
Ability to identify plant diseases and treatment methods.
