About the Role
As an Associate Operator – Folder on 3rd shift, you will support packaging and manufacturing operations at Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Bohemia, NY site by operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting specialized folding and gluing equipment. This role plays a critical part in delivering high‑quality clinical trial labeling while ensuring compliance with GMP, SOPs, safety standards, and quality requirements. You will contribute directly to Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Mission to enable customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer.
The Bohemia, NY site is a core Thermo Fisher Scientific Global Label Services location, specializing in clinical trial labeling design, production, translation, inspection, and regulatory support for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. The site supports accelerated global studies through advanced OCR inspection, temperature‑specific labeling expertise, and dedicated clinical labeling project management.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot folder‑gluer and related manufacturing equipment supporting packaging and manufacturing operations
- Perform preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and equipment adjustments to ensure optimal machine performance
- Monitor production quality and perform in‑process quality checks
- Read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, and measurements
- Follow, document, and execute work according to GMP, SOPs, and safety protocols
- Accurately complete production documentation and maintenance records
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, and efficiency using Thermo Fisher Scientific’s PPI (Practical Process Improvement Business System)
- Collaborate with manufacturing, maintenance, and quality teams to resolve equipment or process issues
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

- Ability to lift and maneuver materials weighing up to 70 lbs
- Willingness to handle chemicals
- Valid vision test certification required (renewed every two years)
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Preferred field of study: Technical or Mechanical
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of manufacturing or maintenance experience
- Experience with industrial equipment maintenance and repair preferred
- Experience working in GMP‑regulated manufacturing environments strongly preferred
- Experience with folding machines, press operations, or similar specialized equipment is a plus
Knowledge
- Understanding of preventive maintenance procedures
- Familiarity with GMP, SOPs, and quality control practices
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems, PLCs, and control systems preferred
Skills & Abilities
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
