Skilled Carpenter Position Summary
We're looking for a skilled carpenter who can confidently perform residential remodeling work from an established project plan. The project manager is responsible for project planning, scheduling, customer communication, and material ordering. Your role is to maintain production on site by following the project scope, completing daily tasks, and ensuring quality workmanship while the owner oversees multiple projects.
This is a hands-on position for someone who takes initiative, produces quality work, and can keep projects moving with minimal supervision.
Location: Travel to residential job sites throughout Chattanooga and surrounding areas
Pay: $20–$25 per hour, based on experience

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
- Complete residential remodeling work with minimal supervision.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project plans.
- Follow detailed written scopes of work and project instructions.
- Keep projects progressing according to the established plan.
- Direct laborers or helpers on daily tasks as needed.
- Create accurate material lists for upcoming phases of work and communicate material needs in advance.
- Identify potential issues or conflicts and communicate them before work continues.
- Maintain quality workmanship throughout every phase of the project.
- Keep the jobsite clean, organized, and safe.
- Communicate professionally with homeowners while on site.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum of 2 years of residential remodeling or carpentry experience.
- Ability to read and interpret residential construction plans and written scopes of work.
- Working knowledge of residential construction methods, tools, and materials.
- Ability to plan upcoming work and communicate material needs.
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
- Reliable transportation to and from assigned jobsites.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physically demanding work.
- Own basic hand tools.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, and crouch throughout the workday.
- Safely lift, carry, push, and pull materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, and construction equipment.
- Reach overhead and work at various heights, including ladders and scaffolding.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and temperatures.
- Perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements throughout the day.
- Measure, cut, assemble, and install construction materials accurately.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all safety procedures.
Pay
Pay starts at $20–$25 per hour, depending on experience, skill level, reliability, and overall qualifications.
