Full Job Description

Position Overview

Join Waikiki Dive Center as a Retail Operations Specialist (Frontline Associate) and become the first point of connection for guests beginning their ocean journey. In Hawaiian, Huakaʻi means “to lead”—and in this role, your kuleana (responsibility) is to guide, support, and inspire every guest who walks through our doors.

You will play a critical role in delivering exceptional customer experiences while supporting daily retail and operational functions. This position requires professionalism, attention to detail, adaptability, and a genuine passion for people and the ocean.

What You’ll Do: Customer Experience

Welcome every guest with warmth, professionalism, and aloha spirit
Build immediate rapport and personalize each interaction
Educate guests on scuba programs, tours, and retail offerings
Recommend experiences based on guest goals, schedules, and interests
Resolve customer concerns with empathy, professionalism, and efficiency

Retail & Sales

Maintain a premium retail environment that tells a compelling brand story
Assist with merchandising, pricing, and product displays
Process transactions accurately and with integrity
Be knowledgeable for operation, product and business

Operations & Support

Manage bookings, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and proper call notes
Maintain records for certifications, inventory, and customer data
Prepare dive gear, fill tanks, load vans, and assist with daily operations
Receive, organize, and restock inventory
Maintain cleanliness across shop, vans, and facilities
Drive between shop and harbor as needed

Team Collaboration

Communicate effectively with team members and leadership
Assist in onboarding and training new staff
Contribute to a positive, customer-focused team culture
Participate in marketing initiatives, events, and community outreach

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years retail or fast-paced operations experience preferred
Proficient in English (bilingual or multilingual a plus)
Basic computer skills (MS Office or equivalent)
High school diploma required; college education preferred
Ability to lift 30 lbs and move throughout shop and gear areas

Availability Requirements

Must be a current Hawaii resident
Must be available to work peak seasons:
June–August
November–early January
Must be available weekends and holidays
