Under general supervision, the Assistant Manager of Janitorial Services oversees building operations, janitorial services, and facility maintenance to ensure compliance with cleanliness and safety standards. This role conducts inspections, manages vendor contracts, supervises custodial staff, and provides recommendations on facility improvements and budget planning. Additionally, the position plays a critical role in emergency response efforts related to disasters or facility disruptions.
The Assistant Manager of Janitorial Services must possess strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills, along with knowledge of facility management, janitorial operations, contract oversight, and health and safety regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent is responsible for executing the duties and responsibilities listed below and other duties as assigned. Some positions may require working before, during, or after an emergency or disaster at the department's discretion.

Develops and implements janitorial service plans, assists in formulating overall plans, monitors overall janitorial performance, evaluates service effectiveness, and makes recommendations for improvements while ensuring compliance with facilities management standards, health and safety regulations, and contractual agreements. Additionally, assists in the development of long-term facility improvement plans and policy development for janitorial operations.

Oversees and ensures adherence and compliance to janitorial standards, agreements for leased spaces, vendor contracts (vending, water, and exterminator deficiencies) and facility cleanliness guidelines while conducting weekly audits and compliance reviews, identifying service gaps, and implementing corrective actions. Oversees 24/7 property operations and conducts both office-based and on-site evaluations of ongoing projects. Additionally, reports hazardous conditions, maintenance deficiencies, and safety concerns to facilities management leadership.

Supervises the Supervisor(s) of Janitorial Services and the Lead Custodian(s) providing guidance and professional development. Oversees Janitorial staff scheduling and ensures efficient resources allocation. Facilitates training programs to enhance custodial staff performance and service quality.

Assists in developing janitorial services budget while ensuring cost-effective allocations of resources. Orders custodial supplies and parts from vendors in alignment with budgetary constraints.

Serve as a key point of contact during facility emergencies, including natural disasters, pandemics, and janitorial incidents. Coordinates response efforts and ensures continuity of janitorial operations during crises. Collaborates with facilities management leadership to implement emergency response protocols.

Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Four (4) years of experience in supervisory or management role including two (2) years in facility maintenance and two (2) years in janitorial customer service.
Valid Texas driver's license.

Position Type and Typical Hours Work:
This is a full-time position with the typical work hours of Monday - Friday from 7:00am-3:30pm.
Position may require flexible work hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends, as needed.
This position is considered essential personnel and is subject to being held over or working extra shifts as needed during times of emergency, declared disasters, or as needed to support critical business functions and to provide services for the benefit of the public while other governmental offices could be or are closed.
Work Environment:
This role involves operating within an office and outdoor setting, implying that a portion of the tasks and responsibilities will take place outside of traditional indoor office spaces.
Possible work exposures: Dangerous chemicals, loud noises, inclement weather, or various
temperature changes.
