Full Job Description

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. This position is responsible for the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of heavy construction equipment, with a focus on dozers, excavators, and off-road dump trucks. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills, and a solid understanding of heavy equipment operation and repair.

Key Responsibilities:

Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on heavy equipment including dozers, excavators, and off-road dump trucks.
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance and safety.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to engines, transmissions, undercarriages, and drive systems.
Operate diagnostic tools and equipment to test components and systems.
Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and labor hours.
Ensure all repairs and maintenance are completed in compliance with safety and quality standards.
Respond to field service calls to repair equipment on-site.
Collaborate with operators and supervisors to report equipment issues and plan repairs.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in diesel/heavy equipment mechanics preferred.
Minimum 5-10 years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic, with a focus on dozers, excavators, and off-road trucks.
Proficient with diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical diagnostics.
Familiarity with major brands such as CAT, Komatsu, John Deere, Volvo, etc.
Must have own tools and valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required).
Ability to read and interpret service manuals and schematics.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs, work in various outdoor conditions, and perform physically demanding tasks.
