Full Job Description

CNC Programmer / Machining Manager Position

Tool and Die by H&H Inc. is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer / Machining Manager with a minimum of 5 years of CNC machining experience and proven leadership abilities. This position is responsible for programming, overseeing machine shop operations, managing machinists, improving productivity, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

We are looking for a leader who can effectively balance hands-on machining expertise with team management and production planning. Above all, we value honesty, accountability, and integrity.

Responsibilities

Program CNC mills, lathes, and other machining equipment using CAM software and machine controls.
Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot CNC programs to improve cycle times, quality, and efficiency.
Manage daily operations of the machine shop, including scheduling personnel and production priorities.
Supervise, train, and mentor machinists, operators, and apprentices.
Review blueprints, customer drawings, and specifications to determine machining requirements.
Establish machining processes, tooling selections, fixtures, and setup procedures.
Approve first-piece inspections and verify production readiness.
Monitor machine utilization, workflow, and job progress to meet delivery schedules.
Coordinate with engineering, quality, maintenance, and management teams.
Troubleshoot machining, tooling, programming, and quality issues.
Ensure compliance with company safety procedures and OSHA requirements.
Maintain production records, setup documentation, and process improvement initiatives.
Support quoting and estimating efforts by providing machining and production input.
Promote a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.

Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years of CNC machining, programming, and setup experience.
Minimum 2 years of supervisory, lead machinist, or management experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of CNC milling, turning, tooling, workholding, and machining practices.
Proficiency with G-code, CNC controls, and CAM software.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and engineering drawings.
Experience with process development, fixture design, and production planning.
Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Reliable, self-motivated, and results-oriented.

Preferred Skills

Experience in a job shop, tool and die, or custom manufacturing environment.
Familiarity with Haas, Doosan, Okuma, Mazak, Fanuc, or similar CNC controls.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
Experience with ERP/MRP systems and production scheduling.
Forklift and overhead crane experience.
Experience supporting ISO 9001 quality systems.
