Full Job Description

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced DME Licensing & Enrollment Consultant to lead the pharmacy through the Medicare and Medicaid durable medical equipment licensing, accreditation, enrollment, and operational-readiness process. This is an hourly consulting engagement for a hands-on professional who has successfully completed comparable DME projects and can demonstrate that experience on their résumé.

The consultant will own the process from planning through implementation, coordinate with applicable agencies and partners, identify missing requirements, and keep the project moving until the client is fully prepared to submit, respond, and operate. The engagement requires detailed follow-through—not advisory recommendations alone.

Key Responsibilities

Assess the client’s current readiness and create a complete, sequenced DME licensing and enrollment project plan.
Guide the client through applicable Medicare and Medicaid DME application, enrollment, accreditation, and supporting-documentation processes.
Coordinate and communicate with relevant agencies, accrediting organizations, payers, vendors, and other required external parties.
Develop and manage the full compliance checklist, including deadlines, dependencies, submissions, follow-ups, corrections, and approvals.
Advise on and verify required physical set-up, including the designated room or space, signage, records, storage, security, and workflow readiness.
Define required inventory, supplier relationships, product controls, documentation, and replenishment processes needed for launch.
Confirm that business documentation—including EIN and other organizational records—is complete, consistent, and ready for submission.
Prepare policies, procedures, forms, logs, training materials, and operating processes required for compliant DME operations.
Track agency communications, requests for additional information, application status, and outstanding actions through completion.
Train designated client personnel and provide an organized handoff package that supports ongoing compliance after launch.

What Success Looks Like

The client has a clear, complete, and actively managed path through the required DME licensing and enrollment process.
Applications and supporting materials are accurate, timely, consistent, and submission-ready.
The physical space, inventory, documentation, policies, and workflows satisfy the applicable readiness checklist.
Agency and partner follow-ups are handled promptly, with issues identified and resolved before they stall the project.
The client’s team receives practical training, organized records, and a sustainable process for ongoing compliance.

Required Experience

You are a proven DME licensing and enrollment professional who combines regulatory knowledge with project execution. You can show specific examples of pharmacies, suppliers, or healthcare organizations you have guided through comparable Medicare and Medicaid DME processes, and you understand how to turn a checklist into a functioning, compliant operation.

Qualifications

Documented prior success completing Medicare and Medicaid DME licensing, accreditation, enrollment, or supplier-readiness projects.
Relevant DME project experience must be clearly identifiable on the candidate’s résumé.
Working knowledge of the application lifecycle, documentation standards, inspections or surveys, corrective actions, and ongoing compliance expectations.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate effectively with agencies, accrediting organizations, payers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
Strong project-management discipline, including detailed checklists, status reporting, document control, deadlines, and escalation of risks.
Ability to work independently, provide direct guidance, and remain accountable through completion—not only initial application submission.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate requirements into clear actions for the client’s team.
Pharmacy, healthcare compliance, DME operations, accreditation, credentialing, or payer-enrollment experience strongly preferred.

Engagement & Compensation

Consultant engagement preferred; qualified hourly contractors will also be considered.
Hourly compensation; rate based on demonstrated DME experience and scope.
Flexible schedule coordinated around project milestones and agency requirements.
Some on-site work in Houston may be required; mileage reimbursement may be available.
Engagement length and milestone structure will be established based on the approved implementation plan.

The client is preparing to establish a durable medical equipment capability and is seeking an experienced professional who can translate licensing and enrollment requirements into a complete, operationally ready program.

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
