Full Job Description

Job Description

Experienced paralegal wanted to lead high-volume drafting and case preparation across our core practice areas, work complex litigation matters with minimal supervision, and help mentor and develop other team members.

The Williams Firm, P.C. is a growing multi-practice Texas firm with an office in Livingston, Texas. We help clients across East Texas and the Greater Houston area protect what matters most — their families, their property, their legacies, and their futures. You will support our attorneys in delivering thoughtful, high-quality legal work across our practice areas, on a small, capable, and supportive team.

What You Will Do

Lead high-volume drafting across probate, estate planning, real estate, civil litigation, and our other practice areas (pleadings, probate documents, estate-planning instruments, real-estate documents, correspondence)
Lead discovery coordination — collection, review, production, and responses
Lead trial, hearing, court, and deposition preparation (exhibit assembly, witness binders, court filing packages)
Schedule with courts, clerks, and opposing counsel; provide proof of notice
Conduct legal research and county real-property background checks
E-file in Texas state courts; e-record via Simplifile
Support document signings, including remote online notarization via Proof
Track calendars and deadlines; maintain daily case notes and time entries in MyCase
Help mentor and develop less-experienced paralegals and staff

Who We Are Looking For

Experienced paralegal who can work complex matters with minimal supervision
Strong drafter who produces clean, accurate work product under deadline
Comfortable leading discovery and trial/hearing preparation
Organized, detail-oriented, and professional; able to balance work from multiple attorneys
A mentor's mindset — willing to help develop other team members
Texas notary commission, or willing to obtain one within 60 days of hire

Qualifications

Prior paralegal or legal-assistant experience (law firm, in-house legal department, or court) — required for this role
One of: paralegal certificate, paralegal studies degree, criminal justice degree, business administration degree (with relevant coursework or experience), or equivalent demonstrated paralegal-level skills
Demonstrated drafting skill (a drafting exercise is part of the interview process)
Experience with e-filing in Texas state courts strongly preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; willingness to learn MyCase, OneDrive/SharePoint, and TxDocs (MyCase experience a plus)
Fluency in English (written and spoken); reliable transportation for in-office days, signings, and court appearances

Practice Areas

You will support work across all of our practice areas, with the highest volume in Probate, Estate Planning, Real Estate, and Civil Litigation. We also occasionally handle Family Law, Personal Injury, Guardianship, Business and Nonprofit, Mediation, and Criminal matters.

Work Arrangement

This role begins in-office at our Livingston, TX location. During the 90-day probationary period, you will participate in required in-person and virtual training, one-on-one and in small groups, and on an ongoing basis thereafter.
A hybrid schedule may be available after the probationary period, based on demonstrated performance and the firm's needs. Candidates should be within approximately 60 minutes of Livingston.
Occasional in-person attendance is required for trial preparation, signings, and firm events.

Residency requirement: Texas resident, within a one-hour driving radius of the Greater Houston area and/or Livingston.
