Full Job Description

Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Professional Counselor to join our mental health team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive psychotherapy services, including individual, group, and family counseling, to diverse populations. This role involves working with clients across various settings, including outpatient clinics, inpatient facilities, and telehealth platforms. The LPC will utilize evidence-based practices such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, and behavioral management techniques to support clients' mental health and well-being. Experience with children, adolescents, individuals with developmental disabilities, and those experiencing trauma or PTSD is highly valued. The counselor will also be responsible for conducting diagnostic evaluations, case management, and maintaining accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Responsibilities

Conduct intake assessments and develop individualized treatment plans for clients.
Provide evidence-based psychotherapy including cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, grief counseling, addiction counseling, and art or dance therapy as appropriate.
Utilize crisis intervention techniques and crisis management strategies to support clients in acute distress.
Deliver group therapy sessions and facilitate social work or behavioral therapy groups.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and case management.
Maintain thorough medical records and document clinical notes accurately in compliance with HIPAA standards.
Conduct diagnostic evaluations using ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems for mental health diagnoses.
Engage in research activities related to clinical counseling practices and contribute to data collection efforts.
Work with special populations such as children with individuals with disabilities and those requiring gender issues counseling.
Provide telehealth services utilizing secure platforms to expand access to mental health care.
Stay current on medical terminology related to behavioral health and psychopharmacology when applicable.

Requirements

Valid state licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
Proven experience in psychotherapy modalities including cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, group therapy, and crisis management.
Experience working with children, adolescents, and individuals with developmental disabilities.
Knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems for diagnostic evaluation purposes.
Familiarity with HIPAA regulations regarding medical documentation and patient confidentiality.
Strong skills in patient assessment, case management, behavior management, and social work principles.
Telehealth experience is advantageous; must be comfortable working in outpatient or inpatient settings as needed.
Ability to handle crisis situations effectively while demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
Excellent communication skills for collaboration within multidisciplinary teams and engagement with clients from diverse backgrounds.
