We're a growing freestanding birth center in Brea, and behind our 5,000 square feet of calm, beautiful space is a team that genuinely cares — about our families, about physiologic birth, and about each other. We believe birth is a sacred, natural, physiological, & a transformative process. We'd love to know if that's your heart, too.
A little honesty about this role
Birth work doesn't keep office hours, and neither does this position. This is an on-call role for births, with some gentle, periodic support needs at the clinic in between.
So we'll say this warmly but plainly — your availability and flexibility matter more to us than anything else on your résumé. If reliable on-call availability (including nights, weekends, and holidays) isn't something you can offer right now, we completely understand. When the right person and the right season line up, it's a beautiful thing.
What your days (and nights) might look like
At births — where the heart of this work lives:
- Providing skilled, autonomous midwifery care through labor, birth, and those tender first postpartum hours, both at the center and in our clients' homes
- Answering on-call pages and walking with families from admission through discharge
- Watching over mama and baby with the clinical judgment that only experience brings — managing physiologic birth, recognizing when something's shifting, and initiating transfer of care when it's the right call
- Newborn assessments, immediate postpartum care, and medications within your licensed scope
- Charting with care and accuracy (we use ClientCare)
At the clinic — as needed, and always as a team:
- Prenatal and postpartum visits during scheduled hours
- Well-woman and continuity visits
- Sharing your wisdom with our clinical team as we keep raising the bar together
Who we're hoping to meet
- A California Licensed Midwife (LM) in good standing (CNMs licensed in California, we'd love to hear from you too)
- 3+ years of clinical midwifery experience — birth center or home birth especially close to our heart
- Someone with dependable on-call availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Current BLS/CPR and NRP
- A steady, safe pair of hands and a calm presence when things move fast
- Comfort with home births and travel to clients' homes; reliable transportation
- A warm communicator and a real team player — someone who leads with kindness
And if you also have... freestanding birth center experience, roots in the Orange County birth community, or a second language (Spanish especially) — wonderful. But mostly, we're looking for the right person.
