Full Job Description

Full-Time | On-Site | Competitive Pay & Benefits

The Town of Hurt is seeking a detail-oriented, trustworthy Town Treasurer to manage our day-to-day financial operations and ensure compliance with all state reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Process accounts payable and ensure timely bill payment.
Administer payroll for all employees, including tax withholdings and deductions.
Manage employee benefits (health, retirement, etc.) and handle Virginia Retirement System (VRS) reporting.
Complete and submit all required state HR and financial reports accurately and on time.
Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard public funds.

What We’re Looking For:

Experience in accounting, payroll, and benefits administration (municipal/government experience a plus).
Knowledge of GAAP, governmental accounting standards, and state/local reporting requirements.
Proficiency with accounting/payroll software and Microsoft Office.
High integrity, accuracy, and organizational skills.
