The Development Director engages with prospects, current donors, and community leaders as a senior-level representative of Faces of Hope Foundation.
The Development Director is responsible for our signature event, Faces of Courage. The Development Director will not write grants but will work closely with the internal grant writer.
Job Description:
The Development Director is a highly visible, full-time position that assists the Executive Director in developing and executing Faces of Hope’s fundraising strategies. The Development Director collaborates with the Executive Director to secure significant, immediate, and long-term financial support by identifying, cultivating, and soliciting individuals, corporations, and organizations as assigned. The Development Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the annual signature event, Faces of Courage.
Responsibilities : Leads major gift, corporate donor, and event sponsorship strategies (60%)
- Works both independently and as a team member to manage relationship building, cultivation, and solicitation of gifts, sponsorships, and planned gifts with a portfolio of active prospects and donors to generate support in the highest possible gift ranges.
- Conducts face-to-face visits, solicitations, and other high-level interactions with donors and prospects on a weekly basis.
- Develops new relationships and stewards existing donors and sponsors.
- Evaluate, foster, and expand relationships to maintain & grow ongoing organizational support of like-minded sponsors; support sponsor relationships and satisfy sponsorship agreements
- Collaborates with the Executive Director and the Board to grow corporate support beyond event sponsorship.
- Drafts proposals and presentations for individual and/or corporate donor prospects.
- Documents and maintains accurate donor records.
- In collaboration with the team, identifies, develops, and cultivates a robust pipeline of significant prospects as part of the organization’s evolving fundraising strategy.
- Ensures appropriate donor acknowledgment and stewardship.
- Leads, plans, and executes major giving events throughout the year, including but not limited to Idaho Gives, Giving Tuesday, Witches Night Out, and Hope Week.o Mobilize and coordinate with staff, volunteers, and board members to support event planning and execution
- Works with staff responsible for gift processing and finance to ensure proper recording, allocation, documentation, acknowledgment, stewardship, and analysis of major gifts and pledges.
- Develops collateral materials to support donor conversation and strategy.
- Provides timely reports to the Executive Director to keep them updated on progress.
Signature Event (30%)
- Leads, plans, and executes the annual Faces of Courage event in collaboration with the Executive Director and the Events Committee.
- Determines sponsorship benefits and revenue roadmap for Faces of Courage.
- Creates and implements a stewardship plan to help identify potential event donors.
- Solicits sponsors, donations, and in-kind items and services from potential and recurring donors.
- Collaborates with the Executive Director and events committee to oversee the design and production of event-related communications, collateral materials, and event programs.
- Develops and manages logistical event operations.
- Coordinates with the Executive Director to ensure all event-related administrative functions are fulfilled, including but not limited to sponsorship tracking, invoicing, event staffing, and attendee communication.
Other Duties (10%)
- Manage third-party event relationships as assigned (including after-hour events).
- Meets with the Executive Director weekly.
- Attends organization staff meetings.
- Attends the organization’s special events.
- Participates in and supports organization-wide strategic planning; helps align development strategy with Faces of Hope’s long-term mission and growth goals
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Required:
- 5+ years of nonprofit fundraising experience with demonstrated success in revenue generation
- Experience managing major gifts and donor relationships
- Experience developing and implementing fundraising strategies
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Strong analytical and financial management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
