Full Job Description

Position Summary

Rudd & Company is seeking an entry-level Audit Associate to join our assurance team in Idaho Falls. This position is designed for entry level accounting graduates who are interested in beginning a career in public accounting and developing a strong foundation in auditing, financial reporting, and client service.

As an Audit Associate, you will work alongside experienced auditors, managers, and partners on a variety of audit and assurance engagements. You will gain hands-on experience understanding clients' businesses, testing financial statement accounts and internal controls, preparing audit documentation, and assisting with financial statement preparation.

We are looking for someone who is curious, dependable, willing to learn, and interested in taking on increasing responsibility as they develop professionally.

Responsibilities

Audit and Assurance

Assist with financial statement audits and other assurance engagements from planning through completion.

Accounting and Professional Development

Develop a working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and generally accepted auditing standards.
Research accounting and auditing questions using authoritative guidance and firm resources.
Develop an understanding of financial statement presentation and disclosure requirements.
Learn to use audit, accounting, and research software used by the firm.
Stay current on accounting and auditing developments relevant to assigned engagements.

Client and Team Responsibilities

Communicate professionally with clients to obtain information and documentation needed to complete audit procedures.
Work collaboratively with associates, seniors, managers, and partners to complete engagements accurately and efficiently.
Communicate the status of assigned work and raise questions or potential issues in a timely manner.
Manage assigned responsibilities to meet engagement deadlines.
Incorporate feedback from senior team members and take increasing ownership of assigned audit areas as experience develops.
Travel to client locations as needed.
Perform audit procedures over financial statement accounts and transaction cycles under the guidance of senior team members.
Obtain an understanding of clients' businesses, accounting processes, and internal controls.
Perform walkthroughs and document key business processes and internal controls.
Test account balances, transactions, and internal controls using supporting documentation and other audit evidence.
Prepare clear and organized audit workpapers documenting procedures performed and conclusions reached.
Assist with the preparation of financial statements and related disclosures.
Identify potential accounting, auditing, or internal control issues and communicate them to senior members of the engagement team.
Assist with reviews, agreed-upon procedures, and other assurance engagements as needed.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field required or expected prior to starting employment.

Experience

Previous accounting internship experience is preferred but not required.
Prior leadership, teamwork, or professional experience is a plus.

CPA

CPA license or active progress toward CPA licensure strongly preferred.

Skills and Attributes

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Willingness to ask questions, take initiative, and assume greater responsibility as skills develop.
Master's degree in Accounting or a related field is a plus.
