State Hospital South ( Blackfoot ) Patient Treatment Facility (PTF) is seeking an applicant for Registered Nurse, Manager . To supervise nursing staff and ensure standards and quality management; provide consultation and liaison with staff, health care providers, and the community; perform related work. This announcement is being used to fill a full-time position. Nurses provide psychiatric inpatient treatment and skilled nursing care for Idaho's adult citizens with the most serious and persistent mental illnesses. The hospital works in partnership with families and communities to return to community living.

The facility is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations and is certified by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services. SHS includes 110 psychiatric adult beds, and 36 skilled nursing beds. It also maintains a statewide program to restore competency of criminal justice patients. The 36 skilled nursing beds in the Syringa Chalet Nursing Facility offer services to consumers with a history of behavioral or psychiatric illness.

This position is not eligible for telework.

The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare is a drug-free workplace. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

Functions as 24-hour supervisor in a nursing/treatment unit of a state institution or facility.
Participates in multi-disciplinary staffing and coordinates nursing service activities with other health-related, therapeutic and support services.
Selects, develops, and evaluates staff.
Orients staff on institution/unit policies and procedures, and schedules nursing staff to ensure 24-hour coverage.
Provides professional nursing care and determines need for and arranges professional consultations, and delegates routine nursing care to subordinate staff.
Enforces standards of nursing practice and recommends unit and institution policies and procedures.
Ensure completion of required nursing records.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. Requires current licensure as a Registered Nurse or state licensure as a Registered Nurse pursuant to the Nurse Licensure Compact, Idaho Code 54-1418. For licensure information, please contact the Idaho Board of Nursing at http://ib.idaho.gov or call (208) 577-2476.
Good knowledge of supervisory practices. Typically gained by at least one year of supervisory experience that required providing work assignment, and direction and monitoring of staff with responsibility (or significant input) into the hiring of employees, preparing performance evaluations, and handling problem-solving procedures OR completion of courses or seminars (20 hours) that included all the essential elements of management.
Experience assessing nursing practices for compliance with policies and procedures and recommending appropriate actions. Typically gained by approximately six months' experience in a supervisory role ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, licensure regulations or care standards. This may include chart audits, data collection, policy and procedure review, committee participation and/or infection control activities.
