About The Sports Bra Indy
The Sports Bra Indy is Indianapolis' first sports bar dedicated to celebrating women's sports. More than a restaurant, we're building a community gathering space where great food, exceptional hospitality, and equity in sports come together. We believe food is a form of welcome, and our made-from-scratch menu is crafted to be familiar, unpretentious, and seriously delicious, with options for vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and dairy-free guests. Position Summary
The Kitchen Manager is responsible for leading all back-of-house operations, ensuring food quality, maintaining health and safety standards, managing inventory and labor costs, and developing a high-performing kitchen team.
This position works closely with the General Manager to deliver a consistent guest experience while maintaining profitability and operational efficiency. The Kitchen Manager is also a culture carrier, someone who brings our brand values to life every day through how they lead, cook, and show up for their team.
Key Responsibilities
Kitchen Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop all back-of-house employees
- Create and maintain a positive, respectful, and accountable team culture
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and performance management
- Conduct regular training and ongoing development of kitchen staff
Food Quality & Execution
- Execute all menu items in strict accordance with franchise brand standards and recipes, maintaining consistency with The Sports Bra system-wide quality expectations
- Ensure all menu items are prepared consistently according to recipes and standards
- Monitor food presentation, quality, and portion control
- Maintain high standards for cleanliness and organization throughout the kitchen
- Collaborate on menu updates, specials, and seasonal offerings
- Champion our commitment to made-from-scratch food that works for everyone, including vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and dairy-free guests
Inventory & Cost Control
- Manage food ordering and vendor relationships
- Maintain inventory levels and conduct regular inventory counts
- Monitor food costs, waste, and product usage
- Implement systems to improve efficiency and profitability
Operations & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal food safety regulations
- Maintain ServSafe and health department standards
- Oversee equipment maintenance and coordinate repairs when needed
- Ensure opening, closing, and daily operational procedures are followed consistently
Team Scheduling & Labor Management
- Create and manage kitchen schedules
- Monitor labor costs and staffing levels
- Support efficient deployment of team members during service
- Assist in developing future kitchen leaders
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 3 years of kitchen management or culinary leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- ServSafe Manager Certification
- Experience managing inventory, ordering, and food costs
- Proven ability to lead and motivate teams
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and special events
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds

Preferred
- Experience in high-volume casual dining, sports bars, or hospitality environments
- Experience opening a new restaurant or concept
- Experience working within a franchise system or brand-standards environment
- Passion for women's sports and community engagement

Pay: $43,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
