The Indiana University (IU) Indianapolis School of Education (SoE) is committed to examining our collective role in improving the human condition. Job Summary
Through their work in this position, the student will become acquainted with the following Profiles of Undergraduate Learning:
Department Specific Responsibilities

Learns to become better communicators through building relationships with their supervisor, the School of Education Faculty, Staff, Students, and the University Community through their interactions. There is potential for students to be involved with faculty research and research presentations.

Practices critical thinking, evaluative and analytical skills through engagement the SOE community and the larger IU Indianapolis community. This includes answering student questions about programs in the SOE or being able to direct students to the correct faculty or staff member.

Shares their thoughts and ideas with staff, faculty and their supervisor.
- Through the critical aim of the SOE, students will learn about the ways that the voices of socially marginalized and oppressed groups can be uplifted and centered, and how the mechanisms that oppress them can be dismantled.

Develops and executes communication strategy for SoE with the help of the Digital Media Specialist.

Composes, types, and edits material for SoE events, social media, and website news stories.
- Prepares written materials that promote the SoE mission.
- Monitors content for a variety of communications channels and formats.
- Integrates established brand guidelines and campaign parameters.
- Uses social media to strategize evolving trends and update current marketing applications based on that information.

Works under the close supervision of the Digital Media Specialist.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
-
High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
-
2 years of increasingly responsible related experience, or any equivalent combination of related education and experience.
SKILLS
Required
-
Specialized knowledge of writing and editing for social media and marketing purposes.
-
Working knowledge of computers.
- Ability to effectively give direction when conducting written or video interviews.
- Skill in social media posting and writing for marketing materials.
- Ability to effectively meet and communicate with the public and donors.
- Ability to make independent judgments which have minor impacts on the organization.

Skill using Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and Canva programs.
