Full Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Provides leadership to the Surveillance department by managing and overseeing daily surveillance operations. Directs and coordinates activity of Surveillance Department resulting in an efficient and economic operation while ensuring continuous improvement in service to the internal guests. Responsible for the overall surveillance of the property including but not limited to the following: the enforcement of the law, and other rules and regulations, the physical safety of guests and team members and the protection of guests and company property from illegal activity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The following statements are intended as an overview of key responsibilities of the work for this position and are not all inclusive:

Provides next-level guest service to internal and external guests. Demonstrates the Cedar Crossing culture in all interactions with guests and co-workers.
Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information in accordance with established procedures with company policy and state regulations.
Ensures compliance with all department and company policies, procedures, internal controls, and government regulations.
Responsible for creating and fostering an environment of support and motivation for Team Members.
Leads the hiring, training, development and supervision of Surveillance team members and processes.
Plans and organizes workloads and staff assignments as well as trains, motivates, and evaluates assigned staff.
Enforces all surveillance policies and procedures; suggests new and improved methods, procedures and technologies.
Responsible for maintaining adherence to budget; prepares data for the department operating budgets and acts on budget variance items.
Delegates duties and responsibilities to surveillance personnel based on operational needs to ensure adequate coverage.
Determines surveillance equipment needs to sufficiently observe, report, and record procedural violations and activities that may be unusual, suspicious, or illegal.
Ensures correct operation and maintenance of surveillance equipment and software systems, including CCTV cameras, and digital video recorders.
Utilizes appropriate telephone and radio protocol to maintain communication as a central point of contact for security-related incidents and emergencies.
Coordinates the response to security incidents, alarms, and emergencies, directing surveillance operators and possibly security personnel to take appropriate actions and follow established protocols.
Monitors all company assets as well as property Team Members and guests for procedural violations.
Reviews and verifies all logs and reports of incidents involving cheating, theft, fraud, or other security breaches to the appropriate personnel.
Maintains knowledge of gaming laws/racing regulations, and company policies to ensure adherence to all safety protocols and procedures.
Acts as a liaison with external agencies and/or company leadership as needed or requested.
Adheres to regulatory, departmental, and company policies in an ethical manner.
Resolves problems that are within the position's scope of authority and recommends courses of action to resolve problems that are beyond the scope of authority to the position’s supervisor.
Keeps position supervisor informed of relevant activities.
Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED required, associate or bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum five (5) years surveillance experience or related field required. Minimum of two (2) years in supervisory capacity/leadership role required. Vocational or technical certifications in related fields will be considered. Five (5) years of progressive experience in surveillance, security, or related field. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered. Ability to work in an intense, fast‑paced environment requiring a high degree of concentration. Must be able to formulate and communicate ideas and to make independent decisions.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

Demonstrated management and leadership skills in surveillance operational effectiveness.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent attention to detail and observational skills in analyzing video footage.
Conflict resolution and mediation skills.
Knowledge of gaming operations, rules, and regulations.
Proficiency in computer skills, including knowledge of video surveillance software, database management, and basic networking concepts.
Ability to multitask and respond to telephone and radio traffic.
Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure while making sound decisions quickly.
Ability to consistently comprehend, retain and execute written, verbal and demonstrated directions, explanations and guidance.
Communicate effectively with all levels of Team Members, guests and outside contacts.
Work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

REGULATORY AND COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
In addition to the other duties described herein, every Team Member has the following responsibilities related to compliance with laws and regulations:

Attend required training sessions offered by the casino.
Obtain and maintain required license(s).
Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations.
Take the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco.
Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the team member’s department.
Have knowledge of property programs to address problem gambling.
Consult with the appropriate individuals and maintain an effective system of written policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with gaming regulations and Internal Controls.
Take the appropriate steps to investigate exceptions, fraud, and potential violations and report such instances to the appropriate levels of management.
Report any acts of wrongdoing on behalf of any Team Member of which they have knowledge.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Must have ability to:

Move around all work areas effectively and efficiently.
Lift, push, and pull up to 30 pounds.
Work long hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
Work in an environment with moderate to loud noise levels, may be exposed to secondhand smoke and varied light levels, including flashing lights.
Ability to sit in a confined space for majority of shift.
Use typical office equipment such as copier, monitors, mouse, keyboard, etc.
Sit, stand, bend, walk for long periods of time.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:

Iowa Racing & Gaming Commission License

Valid driver's license with a minimum of three (3) years driving experience

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Will supervise employees. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the unit(s).
