Position Overview

We are seeking a professional, motivated, and safety-driven Firearms Instructor who is passionate about teaching and committed to developing students of all experience levels. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys mentoring others, thrives in a team environment, and represents the firearms community with integrity and professionalism.
As a TRB Instructor, you will deliver classroom instruction, lead live-fire training, coach students during practical exercises, and help create a positive, welcoming environment where students can safely build confidence and proficiency. Our instructors are expected to maintain the highest standards of firearm safety while continually improving their own knowledge and instructional abilities.

Minimum Qualifications
- Current NRA Instructor Certification and/or USCCA Instructor Certification (required)
- Valid Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid certification (required)
- Professional demeanor and ability to represent the company in a positive manner.
- Excellent communication and public speaking skills
- Must be available to work weekends, holidays as needed, and occasional evenings based on class schedules.
- Successfully complete and maintain the TRB Instructor Qualification standards
- Must be legally eligible to possess firearms
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Firearms Instruction
- Conduct safe, professional, and engaging firearms instruction for individuals and groups.
- Assist with California CCW New Applicant and Renewal courses.
- Teach classroom curriculum in a clear and engaging manner.
- Lead dry-fire training portions of classes while maintaining strict safety standards.
- Learn and effectively teach the TRB Private Lesson curriculum.
- Provide instruction for both pistol and rifle platforms.
- Adapt instructional methods to accommodate students of varying skill levels and learning styles.
Range Operations
- Maintain absolute adherence to firearm safety rules.
- Safely operate and manage a live firing line while working cohesively with other instructors and Range Safety Officers.
- Demonstrate all required shooting drills accurately and proficiently upon request.
- Observe students, identify deficiencies, and provide constructive coaching.
- Monitor students for safe firearm handling at all times and immediately correct unsafe behavior.
- Assist with range setup, target placement, equipment management, and cleanup.
Firearms & Equipment Knowledge
- Maintain extensive knowledge of modern handguns, rifles, optics, accessories (PREFERRED), and related equipment (PREFFERED).
- Understand common firearm modifications and their impact on reliability, safety, and performance.
- Stay informed on current firearms technology, optics, lights, holsters, slings, and other industry equipment (PREFFERED).
- Make appropriate gear recommendations based on each client's experience level, intended use, and training goals (PREFFERED).
- Continue developing knowledge of emerging products and industry trends (PREFFERED).
Legal & Professional Knowledge
- Maintain a current understanding of applicable federal, California, and local firearms laws as applicable to TRB courses.
- Stay informed of changes affecting concealed carry, firearm transportation, self-defense laws, and range safety practices.
- Ensure all instruction reflects current legal standards and best practices.
Customer Service
- Deliver exceptional customer service.
- Create a positive, welcoming learning environment for all students.
- Represent TRB professionally in person, online, and during industry events.
- Handle student concerns professionally and escalate issues when appropriate.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information.
Physical Requirements
Candidates must be capable of performing the physical demands associated with firearms instruction, including:
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Repeated bending, kneeling, and lifting up to approximately 50 pounds.
- Demonstrating shooting positions and movement drills.
- Working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Maintaining sufficient physical fitness to safely perform instructor duties throughout the training day.

Preferred Qualifications
Preference may be given to candidates with experience or certifications in areas such as:
- Low Light / Night Vision
- Defensive Pistol
- Defensive Rifle
- Room Clearing / CQB
- Medical / TCCC
- Force-on-Force Instruction
- Law Enforcement or Military firearms instruction
- Competition shooting experience (USPSA, IDPA, etc.)
