Full Job Description

Job Summary:
The Substance Use Disorder Aide (SUDA) performs all duties under the direct supervision of the Supervising Counselor. The SUDA is responsible for working with personnel, supplies, and equipment on the unit in a cost-effective manner and promote teamwork with nursing, physicians, co-workers, and staff of other departments. The SUDA will interpret and implement policies and maintain standards of care and carry out all levels of direct personal care and activities as needed.
Essentials Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:
The following statements reflect the duties considered necessary to describe the essential functions of the job as identified and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in this position.
Primary Job Duties:
1.Direct Patient Care: The SUDA will provide direct patient care in an effective, organized, and timely manner. Observes for changes in assigned patients' condition and reports this information to the Inpatient SUD Supervisors in a timely fashion.
2.Compliance: The SUDA will meet the New York State Department of Health regulations, standards of practice, OSHA, and other relevant standards. The SUDA will interpret, implement, and be incompliance with all established procedures/regulations including patient rights, OASAS, DNV, and HIPPA. Documentation will be accurate and timely to meet required clinical standards and support financial accountability. The SUDA recognizes legal responsibilities and functions within the Scope of Practice.
3.Safety: Maintains a clean and hazard-free environment while performing safe techniques. utilize the chain of command accordingly to report concerns regarding safety, staffing, patients, quality, and potential emergency situations. Apply emergency protocols as necessary.
4.Quality: Participates in quality improvement initiatives. Participates in the measurement and monitoring of key processes to include, but not limited to, threats to patient safety, medications, adverse events, infection prevention, and customer satisfaction. Substance Use Disorder Aide.

Secondary Job Duties:
5. Professionalism: Compliance with health requirements, in-service, regulations, and organizational/ departmental policies. Maintains professional growth and development by keeping abreast of the latest developments in appropriate area(s) of expertise through seminars, workshops, conferences, continuing educations, and orientation programs. Consistently demonstrates courteous, professional behavior.
6. Organizational Standards: The SUDE will meet Standards of Performance and comply with Human Resource policies. The SUDA must be able to handle multiple priorities, act swiftly in all situations, and apply critical thinking skills. Be able to follow direction and adhere to delegation of duties to efficiently manage patient care. Follows established department and organizational policies, procedures, objectives, quality management, ISO 9001 standard s, safety. environmental and infection control. Perform other duties as requested.
Education Required (Minimum)
High School graduate or equivalent in education achievement. Basic Life Support (BLS) Valid NYS Driver’s License.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
Some sitting. Stands and walks most of the day. Lifts, pushes, pulls patients, equipment and furniture. Frequent exposure to disagreeable odors, communicable disease, infections, and injuries from patients/ equipment.
Mental Demands:
Must be able to work with strict deadlines and highly confidential information. Must be able to deal with sensitive issues and discussions with employees and physicians.
