Time: 4 weeks
Salary Range: $1150 - 1300/week

Perks:

Weekend Accommodations: Staff will have the option to stay on camp grounds during their days off, with full access to the facilities and lake front
Weekends Off: Friday's at 5pm to Sunday's at noon are off

Requirements:

Minimum age: 21
Prior experience as a cook, ideally in a supervisory role
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with children
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to respond to emergencies
Full understanding of NYS Department of Health food service regulations
Good judgment and problem-solving skills

Job Summary:
Join our vibrant summer camp team as a Summer Camp Cook, where your culinary skills will energize and nourish young campers and staff alike! You will be responsible for preparing delicious, nutritious meals that meet dietary guidelines, ensuring food safety standards are upheld, and creating a welcoming atmosphere in the camp kitchen. Your enthusiasm for food preparation and catering will help foster a positive camp experience, making every meal memorable and enjoyable for all participants. You will be preparing meals for approximately 50 campers and 15 staff per week, covering breakfast, snacks, lunch, dinner, and dessert.

Responsibilities:

Plan, prepare, and cook meals, including soups, sauces, meats, baked goods, and more
Oversee all kitchen operations, including supervising kitchen staff and volunteers
Place food orders, manage inventory, and maintain budget compliance
Collaborate with the Camp Director, Health Director, and Camping Committee to design menus that accommodate dietary needs and schedules
Ensure kitchen cleanliness, proper food handling, and compliance with NYS Health Department standards
Monitor food supply and report shortages or issues with deliveries
Maintain accurate records and complete paperwork efficiently
Foster a sustainable approach by reducing waste, recycling, and composting. Avoid single use food packaging
Arrange food distribution, either family-style or for off-site activities
Coordinate with staff to manage meal service with camper helpers ("Hoppers")
Assist with general camp operations, including drills and camper safety as needed

Cook and assemble meals with precision, utilizing strong knife skills and culinary techniques to ensure quality and presentation
Maintain high standards of food safety, sanitation, and hygiene throughout all food handling and preparation processes
Assist with food service during meal times, including serving, plating, and ensuring timely delivery of hot meals
Support catering activities for special events or activities at the camp, ensuring smooth execution from setup to cleanup
Manage kitchen inventory, monitor supplies, and assist with food storage to minimize waste and ensure freshness
Collaborate with dietary aides and staff to uphold health regulations and promote a safe dining environment

Camp Season:
Week 1: Mon, July 6 – Friday, July 10 (day camp ONLY)
Week 2: Sun, July 12 – Friday, July 17 (day and overnight camp - begins Sunday afternoon)
Week 3: Mon, July 20 – Friday, July 24 (day camp ONLY)
Week 4: Sun, July 26 – Friday, July 31 (day and overnight camp - begins Sunday afternoon)
Week 5: Sun, Aug 2 – Friday, Aug 7 (day and overnight camp - begins Sunday afternoon)
Staff Wrap-Up: Saturday, August 8
