Trinity Health Chelsea HospitalPhysical Therapy Aide- Inpatient RehabLocation: Chelsea, MISchedule: Contingent (Non-Benefitted), Variable shifts, weekend and holiday rotation requiredJOB SUMMARY
Assists in preparing patients for various treatments. Transports patient to and from the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department. Performs routine tasks to free Registered Physical Therapists and Physical Therapy Assistants for attention to professional duties.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
Education: Minimum of high school education or GED.
Experience: One year experience in health care setting or service industry preferred. Pursuance of a health care career preferred.
Certification/Licensure: CPR

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approaches conflict in a constructive manner. Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in their resolution.
Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, colleagues, and visitors to Chelsea Hospital. Discusses patient and hospital information only among appropriate personnel in appropriately private places.
Behaves in accordance with the Code of Conduct, Service Excellence Standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values and policies of Chelsea Hospital.
Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management.
Promotes a positive work environment by demonstrating teamwork.
Demonstrates and utilizes proper body mechanics and lifting techniques with patients and materials. Utilizes mechanical lifts when appropriate to ensure patient and employee safety.
Productively utilizes time when assignments are complete.

May perform a variety of tasks including:

Maintaining department cleanliness, including laundry.
Monitor, maintain and disinfecting of equipment.
Monitoring inventory and order items as needed (or work with dept designee to order items).
Creating copies and assembling forms and other materials as requested.
Preparing for classes and treatments as scheduled or requested.
Delivers patient schedules and documentation forms to patient units as needed.
Assist nursing staff with patient readiness for therapy.

Provides a variety of transportation duties:

Transports patients safely to and from therapy appointments. Assures patients’ timely arrival at scheduled therapy appointments, or communicates reason patient is late/absent.
Obtains necessary patient materials for therapy appointments (i.e., glasses, chart, lap tray, sling, shoes, AFO, etc).
Communicates verbally, or in writing, changes in patients’ schedule/condition to nursing/therapy staff in a timely manner.
Arranges for and coordinates assistance to complete transportation, if workload necessitates.
Occasional assistance with clerical and or scheduling duties that could include activities such as: Filing reconciliation
