The Department of Housing & Residence Life is accepting applications for its Marketing & Outreach Coordinator position. The Marketing & Outreach Coordinator provides strategic leadership for the development, implementation, and assessment of integrated marketing, communications, branding, recruitment, and engagement initiatives that advance the mission of Housing & Residence Life and the Division of Student Affairs.
Consistent with positions at peer and aspirational institutions, this role extends beyond traditional marketing functions to include enrollment support, residential student engagement promotion, digital storytelling, crisis communication support, reputation management, student staff supervision, and assessment of communication effectiveness. The Coordinator serves as the primary architect for cultivating a cohesive residential and student affairs brand that promotes belonging, supports student success, and strengthens institutional visibility.
This position supports both operational and educational priorities by elevating the student experience through strategic communication, innovative outreach, and data-informed campaign development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Marketing, Branding, and Enrollment Support

Develop and execute comprehensive annual marketing and communication plans aligned with departmental strategic goals, enrollment priorities, and student success initiatives.

Lead brand management efforts for Housing & Residence Life and support divisional branding for Student Affairs initiatives.

Advance recruitment and retention goals through housing marketing campaigns, occupancy promotion strategies, and yield communications.

Develop audience-specific messaging for prospective students, current residents, families, alumni, and campus stakeholders.

Support strategic communications for housing selection, room assignments, move-in, retention initiatives, and special residential programs, including living-learning communities and themed housing.

Benchmark marketing strategies against peer and aspirational housing programs and incorporate emerging best practices.
Digital Communications and Social Media Strategy

Provide leadership for all departmental social media strategy, content planning, platform management, and audience engagement.

Manage official departmental social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, Linkedln, and emerging platforms.

Create engaging multimedia content including graphics, reels, photography, video campaigns, and student-centered storytelling.

Develop editorial calendars and campaign schedules that support annual housing and divisional priorities.

Monitor engagement metrics, social listening trends, and analytics to optimize performance and audience reach.

Support reputation management through digital engagement and appropriate response strategies.
Content Creation, Creative Services, and Publications

Design and produce print and digital collateral including brochures, flyers, banners, newsletters, digital signage, annual reports, and recruitment materials.

Create visual campaigns supporting residential curriculum initiatives, student leadership development, wellness programming, and divisional events.

Maintain templates, style guides, photo libraries, and branding assets for departmental use.

Website, Technology, and Content Management

Manage and maintain Housing & Residence Life and assigned Student Affairs web content to ensure accuracy, accessibility compliance, and user-centered design.

Enhance web presence through strategic content updates, user experience improvements, and search optimization strategies.

Coordinate digital communication platforms including email marketing systems, texting campaigns, and other engagement technologies.

Partner with IT, university communications, and vendors to support digital innovation and system enhancements.
Residential Experience Marketing and Student Engagement Promotion

Develop promotional strategies supporting the residential experience, student engagement model, and cocurricular learning initiatives.

Promote signature events such as move-in, welcome week, homecoming programming, leadership initiatives, wellness campaigns, and housing traditions.

Support communication campaigns related to Residence Hall Association, student leadership recruitment, and recognition initiatives.

Collaborate with Residence Life staff to market educational and developmental programming occurring in residential communities.
Communications, Media Relations, and Crisis Messaging Support

Draft and coordinate newsletters, announcements, press materials, feature stories, and stakeholder communications.

Serve as a departmental communications liaison with institutional communications, admissions, and external partners.

Support emergency communications, crisis messaging, and time-sensitive notifications in collaboration with departmental leadership.

Assist in developing communication protocols and messaging templates for operational disruptions and emergency response.
Outreach, Partnerships, and Campus Collaboration

Strengthen collaborative partnerships with Admissions, Enrollment Management, Athletics, Alumni Affairs, and campus partners to support coordinated messaging.

Represent the department through tabling, presentations, campus events, and institutional outreach efforts.

Assessment, Analytics, and Strategic Reporting

Annual Reports, Publications, and Departmental Assessment Communications
