Calibration Technician Apprentice

Location: Orange Park, FL
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday–Friday, Day Shift
Pay: $19-$22 per hour, depending on experience

Position Summary

American Valley Avionics and Calibration (AVACS) is an established, trusted, ISO/IEC 17025: 2017 accredited calibration laboratory located in Orange Park, Florida. We proudly provide calibration services for a wide range of commercial, military, and aerospace customers.

We are seeking a motivated Calibration Technician Apprentice to join our technical services team. This is an entry-level opportunity for someone interested in electronics, mechanical systems, instrumentation, or quality control.

The apprentice will receive hands-on training while learning to inspect, test, calibrate, document, and maintain precision measurement equipment. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, dependable, and eager to develop a career in calibration and metrology.

We are committed to developing apprentices into skilled calibration professionals through hands-on training, mentoring, and increasing technical responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

Assist experienced technicians with calibration and testing of measurement equipment.
Learn to use precision instruments such as multimeters, pressure gauges, temperature sensors, torque tools, and other test equipment.
Perform basic inspections and functional checks.
Follow calibration procedures, work instructions, and safety requirements.
Record test results and maintain accurate calibration documentation.
Identify equipment that is outside of required specifications and report findings.
Assist with equipment labeling, inventory, and maintenance.
Keep tools, work areas, and calibration equipment clean and organized.
Develop proficiency with calibration software and electronic documentation systems.
Participate in on-the-job training and progressively perform calibration tasks independently.
Learn Fluke Met/Team software.

Qualifications

Required:

High school diploma or GED.
Strong interest in technical, mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation work.
Basic math and computer skills.
Ability to read and follow written procedures.
Strong attention to detail.
Reliable attendance and willingness to learn.
Ability to safely lift and move equipment as required.

Preferred but not required:

Technical school, community college, military, or vocational training.
Experience with hand tools or electrical/electronic equipment.
Basic understanding of electrical circuits, mechanics, or measurement principles.
Previous manufacturing, maintenance, quality, or laboratory experience.
