Full Job Description

Description

The Junior HR Generalist is primarily responsible for supporting the HR Business Partners with day-to-day HR operational issues, administrative tasks, and routine employee matters. This role assists with HR operations, documentation, policy interpretation, compliance support, employee relations follow-up, HRIS requests, and other tactical activities that help ensure timely and effective HR service delivery. In addition, this role will provide HR support to a small assigned client group as a secondary function, serving as a point of contact for routine leader and employee questions while escalating more complex or sensitive matters to the appropriate HR Business Partner or HR Center of Excellence.

Responsibilities:

Supports HR Business Partners with day-to-day tactical and operational HR responsibilities
Serves as the primary HR contact for a small client group, providing guidance on routine employee relations, engagement, performance, policy, and workplace questions
Works closely with the HRBP team to support positive work relationships, reinforce engagement, and promote retention
Assists with HR operations activities including, but not limited to, unemployment claims, subpoena requests, verification of employment, I-9 compliance, licensure requirements, HRIS requests, employee file maintenance, and document management
Provides consistent HR policy guidance and interpretation, escalating complex or sensitive matters to HR Business Partners or the appropriate HR Center of Excellence
Assists with employee relations matters, including fact gathering, documentation, follow-up, and participation in investigations as appropriate
Serves as a knowledgeable point of contact for employee inquiries in person, by phone, and by email, resolving routine questions and routing more complex issues appropriately
Supports onboarding, employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, learning and development activities, benefits, and other HR initiatives as needed
Maintains organized, compliant, and up-to-date HR records and documentation while protecting confidentiality
Utilizes HR systems and Microsoft Office tools to support data entry, basic reporting, tracking, workflows, and department processes
Assists in the implementation and communication of HR policies and procedures
Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, escalating compliance concerns when appropriate

Qualifications:

Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree
Minimum of 2 years of related Human Resources experience required
Working knowledge of human resources principles, practices, employment laws, and compliance requirements
Ability to provide practical HR guidance to front-line leaders and employees while knowing when to escalate complex employee relations or compliance issues
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships and interact effectively with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer service and quality focus
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Ability to act with integrity, discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment while maintaining confidentiality
Basic understanding of employee relations, performance management, onboarding, benefits, and HR operations processes
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including basic Excel and familiarity with HRIS platforms required
SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), HRCI Associate Professional in Human Resources (aPHR), or Professional in Human Resources (PHR) credential a plus

Location: Corporate office 3599 University Blvd South, Jacksonville, FL 32216. Travel to other locations throughout Brooks territory may be required.

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday
