Job Summary

Koshkonong Mounds Country Club (KMCC) is seeking a highly motivated, dependable, and experienced Kitchen Lead / Sous Chef / Lead Line Cook to join our kitchen team. This position plays a critical leadership role in maintaining kitchen standards, ensuring smooth service execution, and supporting the Head Chef in daily operations.

We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, leads by example, and takes pride in organization, cleanliness, communication, and consistency.

KMCC will invest in you! We offer a competitive salary based on your experience, paid vacation and sick days, dental plan, and a retirement package. This position is a Full-Time Seasonal position. From April 1 to October 31, you will often work more than 40 hours per week, while from November 1 to March 31, you will typically work less than 30 hours per week. The salary structure is negotiable to ensure comfortable compensation during the slower months. This position also offers a sign-on bonus, an incentive plan, and is bonus-eligible.

Job Responsibilities

Ensuring the line is fully set up and service-ready for any shift assigned as Lead
Maintaining proper stock levels, organization, cleanliness, labeling, and storage of all products
Keeping the line and kitchen clean, organized, and operating efficiently throughout service
Ensuring all equipment is properly cared for and maintained
Completing and overseeing all opening and closing checklists
Delegating tasks to kitchen staff as needed to maintain workflow and efficiency
Ensuring all closing duties are completed before staff leave for the night
Acting as the Head Chef’s representative during their absence
Handling orders independently during busy services when necessary
Assisting in leading banquet and event execution when the Head Chef is unavailable
Making staffing decisions during slower services, including determining when cuts can be made
Communicating concerns, operational issues, or staffing matters to the Head Chef and General Manager as needed

Qualifications/Skills

Previous kitchen leadership experience preferred
Strong line cooking and multitasking abilities
Ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication and organizational skills
Reliable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
Open availability required, including nights, weekends, and some holidays

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements

High school diploma or GED
2+ years of hospitality-related experience
2+ years of kitchen leadership experience
Current food handler’s card and other certifications as required by federal/state/local law
