Opticians are professionals responsible for ordering and repairing eyeglasses for patients based on their visual needs.
Optician duties and responsibilities:
- Take patient information and review eye examinations
- Help patients choose frames, colors, lens treatments, sport eyewear, safety glasses, and sunglasses based on their needs and style preferences
- Prepare eyeglasses and lens orders for the laboratory
- Adjust the eyewear until it fits properly
- Repair or replace broken glasses
- Demonstrate and explain the appropriate use and care of frames and lenses
- Educate the patient on lens options to best suite their lifestyle / career
Optician Requirements:
- Attention to detail: Opticians are required to be detail oriented. They work closely with measurements and optical instruments and equipment. Attention to detail helps them interpret eye exam results correctly, take measurements accurately, and ensure eyewear fits properly prior to ordering.
- Customer Service: Customer satisfaction is an essential factor in this position. Patients are more likely to return to the optician who is helpful, attentive, and friendly. A successful optician listens to their patients, tries to understand their concerns and wishes, and helps them find the perfect eyewear.
- Problem Solving: Opticians encounter people with various eye and sight problems during the day. Whether the patient is near-sighted, far-sighted, or has any other visual difficulty, they must identify and understand the problem in order to provide the proper solution, adjustments and eyewear that will correct the issue.
- Time Management: No matter the environment, opticians must manage their time well and prioritize their work. They juggle patients, equipment, communication with co-workers, and many other responsibilities that require great organization and the ability to stay on track and complete every task properly and professionally.
Hours: Mondays: 7:30am - 6:00pm, Tuesday through Friday: 7:30am - 5pm, and Saturdays 7:30am - 12:00pm
You will have a set schedule with one day off during the week and 1 Saturday off per month.

Technicians:
As an integral part of our eye care practice, you will support our optometrists in delivering high quality patient care. Your role will involve conducting pre-examination testing, maintain patient records, and ensuring our equipment is in top condition.
Technician duties and responsibilities:
- Meet patients and assist with their care and eye problems
- Take and update patients' medical history
- Perform necessary eye examinations and tests on visual capabilities
- Prepare exam room and sterilize equipment
- Use and maintain ophthalmic equipment
- Answer patient questions and explain the testing process
- Schedule patients for emergency visits or eye exams
- Monitor inventory and stock exam rooms
Technician Requirements:
- Attention to detail: Technicians are required to be detail oriented. They work closely with the doctors and insurances to ensure charts are properly documented.
- Customer Service: Customer satisfaction is an essential factor in this position. Patients are more likely to return when the technicians are helpful, attentive, and friendly. A successful tech listens to their patients, documents their concerns and promptly gets the patient set up in an exam room for the optometrist.
- Problem Solving: Technicians encounter people with various eye and sight problems during the day. Whether the patient is near-sighted, far-sighted, or has any other visual difficulty, they must identify and understand the problem in order to provide the proper solution. Techs have to identify the difference between a medical eye visit vs a vision exam by listening and asking the patient the right questions.
- Time Management: No matter the environment, technicians must manage their time well and prioritize their work. They juggle patients, equipment, communication with co-workers and doctors, and many other responsibilities that require great organization and the ability to stay on track and complete every task properly, promptly, and professionally.

Technicians start leaving once the last patients come in for that day so it is rare that you will be here until the end of the work day.

Ideal candidates will have a strong understanding of optometry practices and excellent interpersonal skills. Experience in a similar role is preferred, but we are also open to enthusiastic individuals looking to grow in this field.
