Open position: Paint Prepper
Shift: 1st Shift, Mon – Thurs, 6:00am – 4:30pm
Hourly Rate: Starting at $17/Hr
Minimum requirements:
Up to 95 % standing throughout the day
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen
- Must have favorable background check results
- Must provide favorable work reference
- Must have good attendance history
- Must be able to stand 95% of the day
- Must have 1-year previous experience as Buffer in MFG
Department: Paint Prep
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Sanding of plastic parts utilizing hand sanding tools at times.
· Spot filling holes and masking parts prior to paint.
· Cuts with spot putty and Bondo, Plexus.
· Removing of masking- cleaning and packing will also be a daily activity for this position.
· Willingness to take direction from department lead and follow that direction and also be a self-starter when not working under direct supervision.
· Be capable of reading and understanding technical job instructions.
- Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, and masking using hand tools and power tools to ensure optimal coating adhesion.
- Handle materials safely, including materials handling and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators and safety gear.
- Operate machinery related to surface preparation, including machining tools and powder coating equipment, following safety protocols at all times.
- Interpret production documents and specifications to accurately follow surface preparation procedures aligned with quality standards in production.
- Assist with the setup and calibration of spray guns, including conventional spraying, airless paint spraying, and coating spray guns, ensuring even application.
- Conduct visual color comparisons and surface inspections to verify readiness for painting or coating application.
- Maintain a clean work environment, ensuring all tools, equipment, and work areas meet safety and quality standards in industrial painting environments.
Skills
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and spray guns for surface preparation and finishing tasks.
- Mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment issues related to surface prep machinery or spray systems.
- Ability to interpret manufacturing instructions and production documents accurately.
- Knowledge of safety protocols including PPE use, respiratory protection, and adherence to industrial safety standards.
- Experience with construction painting surface preparation techniques and coating processes such as powder coating or auto painting.
- Basic math skills for measurements, mixing materials, or calculating coverage areas.
- Familiarity with quality standards in production environments to ensure consistent results across projects.
