Are you a new or early-career attorney who wants to actually practice law — not push paper for five years waiting for your shot?

DRD Law is a boutique criminal defense firm in Chicago built on a simple idea: every client deserves the same level of preparation, strategy, and courtroom presence that major firms reserve for their biggest cases. We've built the systems, the tools, and the culture to make that possible — and we're looking for the right attorney to grow with us.

What You'll Actually Do

From day one, you'll be in the courtroom. No months of document review, no waiting your turn. You'll handle real cases, work directly with clients, and develop the litigation instincts that most attorneys spend years trying to earn. You'll be mentored on strategy, client communication, and courtroom presence by an attorney who has tried cases to verdict and built a firm from the ground up.

We handle the full spectrum of criminal defense — from misdemeanors to serious felonies — with a growing emphasis on high-stakes cases in Cook County and surrounding Illinois counties.

No billable hour requirements — we're flat-fee, so your job is to serve clients well, not to track time
No mandatory office hours — results matter, not where you sit
No bureaucracy — decisions get made, cases move forward, and you'll have a voice in how we operate
Trial-first philosophy — we prepare every case like it's going to trial, which makes us better negotiators and better advocates
Real mentorship — not a sink-or-swim environment; you'll be developed intentionally

What We're Looking For

Licensed to practice law in Illinois (or sitting for the next bar exam)
A genuine passion for criminal defense and courtroom advocacy
Strong writing and communication skills
Someone coachable, hungry to learn, and not looking for a passive role
Comfort with technology and openness to learning new tools quickly

Prior criminal defense experience is a plus but not required. We're investing in the right person, not the longest résumé.

Compensation & Structure

Compensation is commensurate with experience and structured to grow with you as your caseload and skills develop. This is a ground-floor opportunity at a firm that is scaling aggressively — the right person won't be in a junior role for long.
