Ophthalmic Technician / Ophthalmic Assistant

Full-Time | Monday–Friday | No Nights | No Weekends

Premier Vision Associates is a growing ophthalmology practice seeking an experienced, energetic, and dependable Ophthalmic Technician / Assistant to join our team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working directly with physicians, building strong relationships with patients, and being part of a busy clinical environment. Our technicians work closely with our ophthalmologists and gain hands-on experience caring for patients with a wide variety of eye conditions, including cataracts, glaucoma, retinal disease, diabetic eye disease, and other medical and surgical eye conditions.

We are especially interested in applicants with at least one year of prior ophthalmology or optometry experience. COA or COT certification is strongly encouraged and will be compensated accordingly.

Responsibilities

Obtain and document patient medical and ocular histories
Measure visual acuity and intraocular pressure
Perform refractions and pachymetry
Perform diagnostic testing including OCT, fundus photography, topography, and A-scan/biometry
Prepare patients for physician examinations
Assist physicians with in-office procedures, injections, and laser treatments
Assist with cataract and surgical evaluations
Provide patient education and instructions
Assist with surgical scheduling and coordination
Accurately document information in the electronic medical record
Assist with scheduling, telephone calls, and other clinical duties when needed
Work collaboratively with physicians, technicians, and front-office staff to keep the clinic running efficiently

Qualifications

One year or more of ophthalmic technician/assistant experience preferred
COA or COT certification strongly encouraged
High school diploma or equivalent required
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong computer and EMR skills
Detail-oriented, organized, and dependable
Comfortable working in a fast-paced medical environment
Friendly, professional, and compassionate with patients
Able to work well as part of a team
Able to stand and walk for extended periods during the workday
Must be able to pass a background check
Valid driver's license required
