Position Overview
ASCENT Recovery Residences is seeking a dedicated and visionary Executive Director to lead our faith-based recovery organization serving individuals overcoming substance use disorders. The Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and operation of the organization, ensuring programs, services, finances, personnel, and community partnerships align with ASCENT's mission of fostering long-term recovery, personal growth, and productive community involvement.
This position reports directly to the Board of Directors and serves as the primary leader responsible for strategic planning, staff supervision, financial stewardship, program development, and community engagement.

Key ResponsibilitiesOrganizational Leadership
- Provide overall leadership and management of the organization and its daily operations.
- Develop and implement organizational goals, policies, and strategic initiatives.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for the Board of Directors.
- Ensure organizational compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and funding requirements.
Staff Management
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and, when necessary, terminate staff members.
- Develop and maintain personnel policies, procedures, and job descriptions.
- Foster a positive workplace culture that promotes accountability, professionalism, and mission-driven service.
- Oversee employee performance management and professional development.
Financial Management
- Develop and administer the organization's annual operating budget.
- Monitor expenditures and ensure responsible stewardship of organizational resources.
- Prepare and present regular financial reports to the Board of Directors.
- Identify and pursue funding opportunities, grants, donations, and other revenue sources.
Program Development & Evaluation
- Assess community needs and develop programs that support individuals in recovery.
- Ensure high-quality service delivery and continuous program improvement.
- Evaluate program outcomes and implement strategies to maximize effectiveness.
- Collaborate with staff and stakeholders to strengthen recovery services and community impact.
Community Relations & Advocacy
- Serve as the primary spokesperson and representative of ASCENT.
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners, government agencies, donors, treatment providers, and recovery organizations.
- Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, public events, and speaking engagements.
- Promote awareness of recovery services and advocate for initiatives that reduce substance abuse and support long-term recovery.
Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in Administration, Social Work, Rehabilitation, Education, Nonprofit Management, or a related field with at least two years of administrative and management experience;
OR
- Bachelor's degree in a related field with at least four years of administrative and management experience.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Nonprofit leadership and management experience.
- Strong financial management and budgeting skills.
- Experience supervising and developing staff.
- Program development, implementation, and evaluation experience.
- Excellent communication, public speaking, and relationship-building skills.
- Grant writing, fundraising, and donor development experience preferred.
- Knowledge of substance use recovery services, behavioral health, or social service systems preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a Board of Directors and community stakeholders.
