Senior Accountant – Property Management & HOA Accounting

About Us

Kokua Realty, LLC is a full-service commercial and residential real estate, property management, and association management company proudly serving the Hawaiian Islands since 1987. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support the accounting operations of our growing Property Management and Association Management divisions.

Position Overview

The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing full-cycle accounting functions across multiple entities and homeowner associations while ensuring financial records are accurate, complete, and maintained in accordance with GAAP and company standards. This role works closely with the Senior Controller, Accounting Manager, Property Managers, and Association Managers to provide accurate financial reporting, support operational goals, and maintain strong financial controls.

What You'll Do

Perform full-cycle accounting including general ledger entries, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end close processes.
Prepare and review financial statements and reports for multiple entities, properties, and homeowner associations.
Ensure financial records are accurate, complete, and maintained in accordance with GAAP and company standards.
Support payroll processing and related HR administrative functions.
Assist with annual budget preparation, variance analysis, and cash flow reporting.
Collaborate with the Senior Controller and Accounting Manager on audits, tax filings, and accounting system administration.
Work within Vantaca and QuickBooks Online to maintain accurate financial records and reporting.
Review account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies as needed.
Support Property Managers and Association Managers by providing financial insight and reporting.
Assist with process improvements and internal controls to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation for audits and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
5+ years of accounting experience required.
Experience with property management, HOA, condominium association, or real estate accounting strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
Experience with Vantaca, QuickBooks Online, or similar accounting/property management software preferred.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
