Assistant Montessori TeacherJob Overview

Montessori Reggio Academy is seeking a dependable and caring Assistant Montessori Teacher to support our classroom team. The ideal candidate enjoys working with young children, works well with others, and is committed to maintaining a safe, nurturing, and organized learning environment.

This position supports the Lead Teacher with daily classroom routines, hands-on learning activities, student supervision, classroom management, and parent updates. Montessori experience is preferred but not required. Training and guidance will be provided.

Required Schedule: 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM, Monday through Friday

Candidates must be dependable and able to work the full required schedule. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

Assist the Lead Teacher with daily lessons, classroom activities, and routines.
Supervise students closely and maintain a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment.
Support children during meals, restroom breaks, transitions, outdoor play, rest time, and dismissal.
Help children develop independence, positive social skills, grace, courtesy, and appropriate classroom behavior.
Assist with hands-on Montessori and Reggio-inspired learning activities.
Observe students and communicate important information to the Lead Teacher and administration.
Provide professional parent updates, classroom photos, and daily information through the school’s communication platform.
Maintain accurate student counts and follow all health, safety, licensing, and school procedures.
Keep the classroom clean, organized, and properly prepared throughout the day.
Complete assigned closing responsibilities and ensure the classroom is fully cleaned and ready for the next school day.
Work cooperatively with teachers, administrators, and other staff members.
Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous experience working in a preschool, childcare center, Montessori school, private school, or similar setting is preferred.
Must be patient, caring, dependable, professional, and able to follow directions.
Strong communication and teamwork skills are required.
Must be comfortable assisting with all aspects of classroom care and supervision.
Must be able to remain active throughout the day and lift up to 30 pounds when needed.
Must meet all state childcare licensing requirements, including background-check and training requirements.
CPR and First Aid certification is preferred or must be obtained after hire.
Must be available to work 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
Bilingual candidates are a plus.

Experience Preferred

Early childhood education or childcare experience.
Montessori or Reggio Emilia classroom experience.
Experience with classroom routines, student supervision, and positive behavior guidance.
Experience using a childcare communication platform such as Brightwheel.

Qualified candidates who are dependable, nurturing, and passionate about supporting young children are encouraged to apply.

Pay: $13.00 - $15.50 per hour
