Podiatry Medical Assistant

DeNiel Foot and Ankle Center, a growing podiatric clinic, is seeking a bilingual friendly, energetic, and professional Full-Time Podiatry Medical Assistant to join our team. This role combines front office administrative responsibilities with back office clinical support to ensure exceptional patient care and operational efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities

Front Office Responsibilities

- Greet, check-in, and schedule patients with a professional and compassionate demeanor.

- Answer and manage inbound and outbound calls to schedule appointments, route inquiries, and take messages using a multi-line telephone system.

- Verify patient insurance eligibility and collect patient balances or set up payment plans.

- Perform accurate data entry for patient registration and scheduling using AdvancedMD.

- Assist in preparing patient medical records and forms to ensure availability for appointments.

- Maintain cleanliness and professional appearance of the reception area.

- Complete daily cash deposits, ensuring accurate balancing and forwarding to the Business Services Department.

- Follow standard clinic supply protocols to maintain front desk operations.

- Communicate effectively with patients, co-workers, management, and providers to address inquiries and clarify information.

Back Office Responsibilities

-Assist physicians or physician assistants by reporting patient observations, conditions, and problems.

- Interview patients, measure vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, weight, height), and record information accurately in patient charts.

- Document information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, ensuring high accuracy and completeness.

- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations.

- Perform clinical tasks such as drawing blood, administering injections, and venipuncture as directed.

- Send out patient referrals in a timely manner and follow up with post-surgical patients to monitor recovery.

- Work alongside clinical staff to support patient care objectives.

Qualifications and Skills

Certification and Experience:

- Must be a Certified Medical Assistant (MA) with a minimum of 1 year of MA experience.

- Orthopedic or podiatric experience preferred.

- One year of customer service, clinical, and scheduling experience in healthcare preferred.

Technical Skills:

- Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR); AdvancedMD experience is a plus.

- Proficient in Google Gmail, Microsoft Office Suite, and data entry systems.

Regulatory Knowledge:

Knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA regulations.

Familiarity with Workers’ Compensation and Personal Injury processes.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

Bilingual (Spanish/English) is highly preferred.

Excellent listening, communication, and customer service skills.

Ability to multitask, be resourceful, and proactively address issues.

Professionalism:

Strong work ethic, punctuality, and commitment to delivering exceptional medical and customer service.

Professional appearance and attitude, maintaining patient confidentiality.

Organizational Skills:

Strong organizational skills with the ability to incorporate technology into daily tasks.
