Full Job Description

Overview

The Consulate General is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Translation and Reporting Officer to support its diplomatic, administrative, and consular operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for translating official documents, correspondence, reports, and communications between Arabic and English, as well as preparing accurate and professional reports, summaries, and briefing materials. This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical abilities, sound judgment, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive information.

Position Summary

The Translator and Report Writer provides translation, interpretation, documentation, and reporting support to the Consulate General. The role involves preparing reports, conducting research, and ensuring the accuracy and consistency of communications issued by the Consulate. The position requires a high level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Translate official documents, correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other materials between Arabic and English with a high degree of accuracy.

· Draft, edit, proofread, and format official reports, letters, briefing notes, and other written communications.

· Prepare summaries of meetings, conferences, events, and media coverage.

· Assist in the preparation of diplomatic and consular reports for internal and external stakeholders.

· Conduct research and gather information to support reporting and administrative functions.

· Review translated materials for accuracy, consistency, grammar, and proper terminology.

· Provide interpretation assistance during meetings, events, and official visits, when required.

· Maintain organized records of translated and reported materials.

· Coordinate with consular staff and other departments to ensure timely completion of assignments.

· Handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

· Assist with special projects and other administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

· Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder).

. Must currently reside in Houston, Texas.

. Bachelor's degree in Political Science required.

· Professional degree, diploma, or certification in Translation preferred.

· Minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience in translation, report writing, political analysis, governmental affairs, diplomatic services, international relations, or a related field.

· Professional in Arabic and English, both written and spoken.

· Demonstrated knowledge of political, economic, and international affairs, with the ability to analyze developments and prepare clear, concise, and accurate reports.

· Strong understanding of governmental institutions, diplomatic protocols, and current regional and global issues.

· Excellent writing, editing, translation, and proofreading skills in both Arabic and English.

· Strong research, analytical, and critical-thinking abilities.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

· Ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

· High level of professionalism, integrity, discretion, and confidentiality.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

· Previous experience working in a diplomatic mission, consulate, embassy, governmental organization, or international institution.

· Familiarity with diplomatic correspondence and official government documentation.

· Experience preparing analytical, administrative, or policy-related reports.
