Fab Associate
Looking for a Fab Associate to join our team that serves many industries from Aerospace to Architectural providing stretch forming, machining, fabrication, and assembly of metals. The ideal candidate would be responsible for fabricating and assembling stretch formed metal products such as aircraft, structural, commercial, military, and transportation and other metal parts by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following but are not limited to. Other duties may be assigned:
- Locates and marks bending and cutting lines onto workpiece.
- Sets up and operates fabricating machines such as presses, rolls and drill presses.
- Hammers, chips, and grinds workpiece to cut, bend and straighten metal.
- Positions, aligns, and fits together parts.
- Designs and constructs templates and fixtures.
- Verifies conformance of workpiece to specifications.
- Fabricates and assembles sheet metal products.
- Sets up and operates machine tools associated with fabricating shops such as radial drill press, de-burring tool, portable cutter, grinder, and edge planer.
- Creates lay outs for fabrication.
- Net Trims metal parts with saws or router
- Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
- Reviews & inspects tooling provided by tooling department and determines suitability to perform required work & its ability to achieve specified tolerances. Acceptance required.
- Reviews, counts & inspects raw materials as provided by receiving for accuracy against work order specifications. Acceptance required.
- Measure’s work-piece dimensions as per specification to determine accuracy of machine operation & tooling.
- Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies, or workpieces.
- Completes maintenance request forms for any malfunction, leak or item that requires attention on production or support equipment.
- Is responsible for and directs associates assigned to them on all production, support, quality, safety & housekeeping activities.
- Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
- Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
- Maintains a neat, clean & safe work area.
- Ability to calculate figures, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
