Concordia Fibers, a world class converter of synthetic yarns and carbon fiber for use in high end textile applications and advanced composites, is looking for a Mechanical Technician to join our technical support team to support challenging new business opportunities within our composite fibers business. Concordia Fibers, founded in 1920 as a manufacturer of silk yarns, has re-engineered its textile capabilities over the past 106 years to expand into synthetic yarns and yarns for advanced composites in aerospace, automotive, filtration media, power transmission belts, and many other industries. We have developed new proprietary fiber processes to support the growing requirement for weight-saving carbon and glass composites in numerous market segments. We are currently working with several OEM’s, Tier 1 suppliers and academic institutions to develop optimal solutions for use of our commingled fiber in leading edge thermoplastic composites.

POSITION SUMMARY
Perform preventative machine maintenance, machine set-ups, troubleshoot and repair machines, and assist with routine building infrastructure maintenance while following standard work methods and practicing safe work habits.
Essential Functions Statement(s)
- Prepare change-over and set up machinery for scheduled production runs.
- Repair and maintain the operating condition of production and processing machinery and equipment.
- Study blueprints and manufacturers' manuals to determine required maintenance, service, and operation of machinery.
- Observe and test the operation of machinery and equipment in order to diagnose malfunctions.
- Perform regularly scheduled preventative maintenance (P.M.) such as cleaning, lubricating or adjusting parts for production and facilities equipment and machinery.
- Analyze test results, machine error messages and information obtained from operators in order to diagnose equipment problems.
- Record repairs and maintenance performed.
- Record parts and materials used and order or requisition new parts and materials as necessary to maintain adequate stock.
- Demonstrate equipment functions and features to machine operators.
- Enter codes and instructions to program computer-controlled machinery.
- May be asked to perform general infrastructure repair using carpentry, plumbing, and painting skills.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education:
A minimum of High School Graduation or General Education Degree (GED) required
Experience: Two to four years related experience required
Computer Skills: Basic Computer Skills
Certificates & Licenses:
Forklift Operation Training (Company Provided)
Valid RI Driver’s License
Other Requirements:
