TWO TYPES of captains jobs available- (1) Freelance and (2) Lead/Primary Captains. Both are needed for 6-Pack FUN Boat trips. No fishing required. 3 to 6 hour trips - Islamorada Sandbar, Sightsee, Snorkel trips aboard 5 single-engine boats, 21' to 26'.
COMPENSATION

Depends on captain's experience and length of each trip
Pays $35 to $60 per trip hour (avg $40/hr), depending on experience and if Freelance captain versus Lead/Primary captain.
PLUS TIPS (avg $100 on 4 hr trip, for example)
PLUS extra, bonus hour is paid on 2 or 3 hour charters.
PLUS higher hourly rate for lead/primary Captains with on-call requirements until 1:30pm for same-day/last minute charters. If not booked by 1:30, its a "day off".
PLUS bonus for five star reviews and holidays
AVAILABILITY
Lead/Primary Captains MUST be AVAILABLE at least SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS and must be on-call at least until 1:30 p.m. on scheduled days, and must cover HOLIDAY WEEKS, WEEKENDS, and high-season months (mid-Feb through July 31), 3 days before and after holidays. Personal days off for Primary/Lead Captain must be scheduled at least 2 weeks in advance. Vacations (more than 2 sequential days off) must occur after high-season months.
Freelance captains must agree to a shared calendar and to check-in with us as soon as their schedule changes, letting us know when busy/available.

DETAILS
We need FUN HOSTS who are also great, safe Captains. We are a 5-star organization and must have FIVE STAR SERVICE. You will be hosting customers to create their "best day ever" on a boat. Sandbar charters require the captain to perform in-water activities including ensuring customer comfort, occasionally serving food/drinks, overseeing their safety, and enjoying casual conversation/interaction, plus setting up floats/paddleboards, anchors, etc. Job requires full attention on snorkelers and Sandbar guests (no phone distractions). Sightsee requires personable conversation and descriptions of landmarks or colorful stories (we will teach you). This is not a job for a shy person or someone distracted by their phone. GREAT CAPTAINS get great tips, and we give bonuses for 5-star reviews online.
We need captains willing to adopt our established protocols and take care of our equipment as if they own it. We need great teammates for our other captains, and respectful Captains who adhere to management requirement. We welcome yourGreat ideas, question, and concerns, but expect rules to be followed, without issue.
We Prefer THREE+ years with USCG license (or significant number of years driving boats under 30 feet/single engine).
JOB REQUIREMENTS
* Valid USCG 6-pack license – Must provide prior to interview
* Prefer a minimum of 3 years with USCG license -OR- Significant experience with smaller single-engine boats, navigating the Islamorada area
* Prefer Snorkel trip experience
* Lead/Primary Captain should be LOCAL, already living near Islamorada, Key Largo, to be available for on-call charters (notified within 90 mins of departure time
*Freelance Captain should already have housing between Homestead and Marathon
* Must be a problem-solver and rule-follower. We train you to follow our routes and our business “formula”. We give you guidelines to follow, but you have to be able to work through problems on your own in a safe, courteous, and professional manner on the boat, with customers, and at the dock.
* Clean criminal record
* No drugs. No drinking (before or during charters). No tobacco use aboard the boat (smoking, chewing, etc)
* Expertise in maneuvering/docking/anchoring single engine boats
* Customer interaction and in-water activities (sandbar) required. Great to have customer service experience for bigger tips and repeat guests.
* Great to have experience in the Islamorada bayside, sandbar, and oceanside reef area between markers 88 and 82 (our route)…. BUT not a deal breaker. We will ride-along until you are familiar.
ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION
Each trip is between 2 hours and 6 hours, plus about 20 mins before and after to set up or clean. As an incentive to run short charters, 2 hour or 3 hour trips pay one hour extra. Two charters are sometimes booked each day. Sandbar, Sightsee, Sunset, & Snorkel charters. No fishing required. When assigned to one charter of 4hrs or less, Captains must agree to work a second short charter on the same day, if booked.
BOATS DESCRIPTION
5 boats in the fleet - Multiple Center Consoles, a Pontoon, and a Deck Boat, all with 21’ to 26’ single engines. Well-Maintained, shaded, & equipped. Each carries Sandbar water toys, coolers, etc

Describe types of boats and charters you have run (& activities on the boat). Describe any customer service experience in your career (as captain, bar tender, or otherwise). You will be asked for a photo of your valid USCG license and a face-to-face interview date within a couple of days.
