Full Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Assumes responsibility for lunch and dinner shifts. Includes preparation and service. Directly oversees the hot and cold factors of production in the absence of the Executive Chef or Executive Sous Chef.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Know your work schedule and follow it with a high degree of reliability.

2. Interact with patrons, clients, vendors, and co-workers in a professional and customer service-oriented manner.

3. Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming.

4. Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area.

5. Perform your job according to standard operating procedures.

6. Read, understand and follow all policies, procedures and practices as stated in the Employee Handbook.

7. Implement resort safety and emergency policies and procedures (i.e. evacuation, first aid, etc.) to include removing all safety hazards, following OSHA Hazcom program and safe lifting techniques.

8. Utilize protective equipment, when applicable.

9. Promptly report accidents, injuries, property damage or loss to supervisor.

10. Promptly report substandard (unsafe) conditions to supervisor.

11. Keep accurate communication flowing freely among all hotel departments.

12. Inform management promptly of any work-related problems or guest complaints.

13. Maintain professional, amicable relationships with all resort departments, managers, and staff, as well as vendors, and community and professional contacts.

14. Promote excellent guest service throughout the resort by demonstrating friendly, courteous and helpful attitudes toward all guests.

15. Attend all scheduled training classes and meetings.

16. Train and supervise other employees as directed by management.

17. Continue to learn and grow in your position.

18. Perform any reasonable request as assigned or directed by management.

19. Provide for a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures and rules.

20. Arrange for reasonable accommodations for person(s) with disabilities.

21. Assist person(s) with a disability.

22. Comply with all applicable federal, state and local laws and ordinances as

they apply to the resort’s guests and employees.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Provide assistance to the Executive Chef and ensure effective operation of the kitchen and food production.
Train and supervise subordinate associates when required.
Requisition necessary supplies when required.
Assist in the control of inventories.
Ensure proper sanitation and maintenance of kitchen equipment and kitchen area.
Cook.
Responsible for cleaning station after shift and putting away food items properly, having the Sous Chef check the station before leaving at the end of each shift.
Assist Executive Chef with reviews and evaluations of kitchen associates on a regularly scheduled basis as designated by hotel policy.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

EXPERIENCE: 5 year high volume restaurant or hotel kitchen experience including preparation of all soups, stocks, sauces, roast meats, pastas, buffets and garde manger.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Able to read and follow both written and verbal communication.
Effectively supervise and train subordinates.
Work independently and exercise judgment to resolve personnel and production issues that arise during daily operations.
Communicate successfully and maintain good interpersonal relations with co-workers.
Able to handle stress arising from daily operations.
Communicate effectively by telephone.
Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide accurately with a calculator.
Ability to move kitchen equipment and supplies from one area of work site to another.
Ability to move frequently throughout kitchen and food production outlets.
Clean, maintain and operate essential equipment.
Must be able to tolerate hot/cold temperatures.
Cook and develop additions to menu.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time with little to no walking.
Must be able to bend, stoop, twist and reach.
Must be able to push, pull, lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds with or without an accommodation.

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES: Food Handler’s certification and Responsible Vendors Training.

Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
