Position Summary
The Technical Sales Manager - Life Sciences will develop strategic business with U.S. and European OEMs that design and manufacture medical, life science, diagnostic, laboratory, bioprocessing, and pharmaceutical equipment.
This is a relationship-led, consultative technical sales role. The successful candidate must bring an active network among global sourcing, procurement, supply chain, engineering, and operations leaders at major OEMs and convert those relationships into qualified manufacturing opportunities.
The role will connect OEM cost-reduction, supplier-consolidation, localization, risk-mitigation, NPI, and product-transfer needs with iConn's global EMS capabilities: electromechanical and system assembly, cable and wire harnesses, PCB assembly, plastics, precision metal fabrication, machining, tooling, and complex integration.
We seek a builder who can open doors, identify high-value projects, earn customer trust, align iConn resources, and create long-term partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development and Sales Leadership
· Develop new business within targeted U.S. and European life sciences and medical OEM accounts.
· Use established global sourcing, procurement, supply chain, engineering, and operations relationships to open doors and generate qualified opportunities.
· Build multi-level relationships across sourcing, procurement, engineering, quality, operations, supply chain, and executive leadership.
· Create strategic account plans covering relationship maps, sourcing priorities, target programs, competitive position, and revenue potential.
· Position iConn early in cost-reduction, resourcing, localization, supplier-consolidation, product-transfer, NPI, and new-product sourcing cycles.
· Identify programs where iConn can reduce total landed cost, improve continuity, mitigate tariffs, consolidate suppliers, or provide regional manufacturing options.
· Lead complex opportunities from technical discovery through RFQ, quotation, commercial negotiation, qualification, and production award.
· Coordinate technical reviews, cost models, proposals, site visits, and customer presentations; build business cases around cost, quality, delivery, risk, capital, and speed to market.
· Maintain profitable growth and accurate pipelines, forecasts, account activity, and sales metrics in NetSuite CRM.
Customer Relationship Management
· Serve as a trusted advisor to customer global sourcing and procurement organizations and to engineering and operations stakeholders.
· Understand product roadmaps, sourcing strategies, supplier-rationalization plans, cost targets, qualification requirements, and manufacturing challenges.
· Conduct customer visits, technical workshops, manufacturing-site visits, and executive business reviews across the U.S. and Europe.
· Navigate complex global OEM organizations, connect decision-makers, and build partnerships based on responsiveness, technical credibility, integrity, and execution.
Cross-Functional Leadership
Work with Engineering, Program Management, Quality, Supply Chain, Customer Service, Manufacturing Operations, and Executive Leadership to turn customer cost-saving concepts into executable programs. Ensure technical, quality, regulatory, commercial, capacity, and risk requirements are understood and opportunities progress efficiently through qualification and production.
Market Intelligence and Commercial Execution
· Monitor life sciences and medical-technology trends, OEM outsourcing strategies, supplier consolidation, regionalization, and competitive activity.
· Identify target OEMs and manufacturing programs that fit iConn's capabilities and global footprint.
· Provide Voice-of-the-Customer feedback on sourcing priorities, cost targets, technical requirements, and supplier-selection criteria.
· Represent iConn at relevant life science, medical technology, laboratory, diagnostics, and pharmaceutical-equipment events.
· Understand OEM supplier qualification and compliance expectations, including documentation, traceability, change control, validation, first articles, and production approval.
· Coordinate quotation and solution development across engineering, supply chain, quality, and iConn manufacturing locations.
· Communicate technical, quality, cost, schedule, regulatory, and commercial requirements; support DFM, product transfer, NPI, tooling, validation, supplier qualification, and manufacturing readiness.
· Provide management updates on customer engagement, relationships, pipeline, wins, challenges, competition, and required support.
