** This position is scheduled for approximately 20-25 hours per week, primarily on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We can offer some flexibility for the right applicant.
Previous animal care or educational equivalent is preferred.
The Animal Caregiver is a mid-level position that reports to the Animal Care Director, and is responsible for all aspects of daily animal care, including:
- Lovingly providing food and water for our sanctuary farm animals
- Meticulously cleaning barn and stalls
- Implementing veterinary care treatment plans in accordance with directions
- Assisting in maintaining records for each individual animal as well as daily records
- Participating in hoof trimming, sheep shearing, equine dentistry, and similar appointments
- Training and working with volunteers
- Helping with events and fundraising activities and efforts
- Regularly contributing content for the website and posting on social media
- Advocating for a plant-based lifestyle
This is a dirty job involving physical labor, and daily exposure to common allergens. It is also intense, emotionally challenging work. Shifts are typically scheduled between 7am and 7pm, and may include weekends & holidays as needed to care for the animals.
