School Behavior Therapist (Contract)Make a Difference in a Student's Life—Every School Day

Sunderlin Behavioral Interventions is seeking compassionate, energetic, and dedicated professionals to join our growing school-based behavioral team. This is a 1099 Independent Contractor position that follows the academic school calendar. Services are provided during the school year, with hours based on assigned student schedules. Additional opportunities during school breaks or summer may become available but are not guaranteed.

About the Position

School Behavior Therapists provide individualized behavioral support to students within school settings. Working under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), you will implement evidence-based behavioral interventions that help students develop communication, social, emotional regulation, adaptive, and academic readiness skills.

This position is ideal for professionals who enjoy building relationships, collaborating with educators, and making a lasting impact on children's lives.

Responsibilities

Provide one-on-one behavioral support in school settings.
Implement individualized behavior intervention plans developed by the supervising BCBA.
Support students in developing communication, emotional regulation, social, adaptive, and school-readiness skills.
Collect accurate behavioral and skill acquisition data using electronic data collection systems.
Complete daily documentation and administrative responsibilities accurately and on time.
Collaborate with teachers, school personnel, caregivers, and members of the clinical team.
Participate in supervision, trainings, and team meetings.
Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and ethical standards.
Promote positive learning experiences and the generalization of skills throughout the school environment.

QualificationsRequired

Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Education, Child Development, Special Education, Social Work, Behavioral Science, Human Services, or a closely related field.
Experience working with children or adolescents in educational, behavioral, therapeutic, childcare, or human services settings.
Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
Ability to pass all required background screenings.

Preferred

Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential.
Experience supporting children with autism spectrum disorder or other developmental disabilities.
Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).

Not currently an RBT? No problem! Sunderlin Behavioral provides the required 40-hour RBT training course at no cost and pays you for your training time while preparing for certification.

Physical Requirements

This is an active position that requires the ability to:

Lift up to 50 pounds.
Sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and actively engage with students throughout the school day.
Respond quickly during behavioral or safety situations.
Use electronic devices for data collection and documentation.

Schedule

Monday–Friday
Daytime school hours
Hours based on assigned student schedules
Position follows the academic school calendar
School holidays and summer recess generally follow the local district calendar unless additional assignments are available
