· The Flexographic Lead Press Operator is responsible for overseeing daily press operations while operating flexographic printing equipment at the highest level of quality and efficiency. This role serves as a leader on the production floor, providing guidance, training, and support to press operators and production personnel.
· The successful candidate will possess extensive flexographic printing experience, strong leadership skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced custom manufacturing environment where production schedules and customer requirements can change rapidly.
· In addition to press operation responsibilities, this position acts as a key liaison between the production team and company leadership, helping ensure clear communication, continuous improvement, and successful execution of company objectives and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Press Operations
- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot flexographic printing presses.
- Ensure consistent print quality and adherence to customer specifications.
- Monitor production efficiency, waste reduction, and machine performance.
- Perform routine maintenance and ensure equipment is operating properly.
- Identify and resolve print and production issues quickly and effectively.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead by example on the production floor.
- Mentor, coach, and develop press operators and production staff.
- Provide training on best practices, processes, and quality standards.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and accountable team environment.
- Support employee growth through patience, communication, and knowledge sharing.
Production Coordination
- Assist with scheduling and prioritization of production work.
- Adapt to changing customer needs and production demands.
- Coordinate workflow to maximize efficiency while maintaining quality standards.
- Ensure timely completion of jobs across a wide variety of label types and applications.
Communication & Management Liaison
- Serve as the primary communication link between production personnel and executive management.
- Provide feedback regarding production performance, staffing needs, equipment concerns, and process improvements.
- Participate in production planning and operational strategy discussions.
- Help drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the manufacturing process.
Qualifications
Required
- 5-10 years of flexographic press operating experience.
- Strong understanding of flexographic printing processes, materials, inks, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to consistently produce high-quality print work.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
- Commitment to quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
- Mechanical Ability
Preferred
- Previous Lead Press Operator, Supervisor, or Production Leadership experience.
- Experience in custom label manufacturing.
- Proven success training and mentoring production personnel.
- Experience working in a customer-driven manufacturing environment with changing schedules and priorities.
