Development Director for Seven Rivers Hospice Home Inc. La Crosse, WI
Position Description: This contract position provides overall management of the Seven Rivers Hospice Home Inc. (SRHHI) a non-profit business dedicated to building a Hospice Home and community education on Hospice, Palliative Care and Advance Care Planning in La Crosse, WI. The Director is responsible for the operational management of the organization, advancing the interests of the SRHHI, and engaging with internal and external stakeholders to lead philanthropic efforts. SRHHI expects to hire a contracted Director to start part-time (anticipated at 20-25 hours per week). This position can be adapted to meet the needs of the successful applicant and the organization, including flexibility as to schedule and other aspects of the work arrangement. For applicants seeking a longer-term position, the SRHHI seeks to extend the position into a longer-term (Fulltime) appointment as the organization grows.
About SRHHI: Since 2019, the organization has worked to increase education and awareness of hospice, palliative care, advance care planning and the need for a Hospice Home in the La Crosse area. The group has completed its strategic plan and gained financial support to formalize the organization. The Board of Directors has determined the need to attract professional management to advance SRHHI towards its goals. The duties of the position will be confirmed with the successful applicant and may include:
- Promote a positive image of the SRHHI and be a visible manager of the SRHHI, supporting its activities and assisting in the development and implementation of its strategic plan;
- Attend and represent the SRHHI at related area events; Direct the day-to-day activities of the SRHHI, manage/coordinate volunteers, support monthly Board meetings, assist the Board of Directors in achieving goals, marketing activities, and outreach;
- Provide support in connection with SRHHI financial matters, such as development and management of an annual budget; evaluating, making recommendations, documenting and processing financial matters; and working with the SRHHI accounting firm and Board;
- Assist in the development of a financial plan for the SRHHI’s strategic initiatives and develop relationships and seek funding resources to lead a successful capital and endowment campaign to launch the organization, build a hospice home and sustain the operation;
- Assist the board and its committees in identifying, developing, and managing grant and other funding opportunities/sources to support the activities of the SRHHI;
- Provide support for the short- and long-term strategic direction of the SRHHI, including implementation of its strategic plan and development of financial and other resources to support SRHHI activities;
- and, Such other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Position Qualifications - Required
- College or university degree OR combination of education and experience in an equivalent position (related training and experience);
- Knowledge and skills developed through job and training activities to support position-related activities;
- Familiarity with financial matters, business operations, fundraising and volunteer management;
- Ability to develop referral networks and networking with stakeholders; Familiarity with development of marketing strategies;
- Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills;
- Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple projects;
- Self-starter and reliable with good work ethic.
Position Qualifications - Preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management or in a field related to the position;
- Five or more years of business or operational management experience;
- Experience in philanthropy (both direct solicitation and grant writing) in a non-profit organization with a proven track record of success in raising funds for operations, capital campaigns and endowment creation;
- A Passion for Hospice, Palliative Care and Advance Care Planning; Direct experience working with and understanding Hospice Programs, Palliative Care Management, Clinical Administration or Healthcare Leadership;
- Experience in the management and operation of a business;
- Marketing experience, including work with digital marketing and social media;
- and/or Experience in areas related to the described duties.
