PURPOSE OF POSITION: Assist the person responsible for the operation (management and administration) of an RCMA Child Care Center. By applying knowledge learned from a background similar to the families serviced, provides leadership to degreed and non-degreed staff that will enhance their ability to provide a culturally sensitive, developmentally appropriate, and healthy Early Childhood Program and support to families. Provide a warm and friendly emotional climate for the Center and the families served.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING; however, other duties may be assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Read and become familiar with program goals, philosophy, and objectives.

Maintain a warm, secure, affectionate social-emotional climate for children.

Provide a safe and healthy environment.

Establish positive relationships with families.

Observe behaviors and the child’s development

Participate in a training and career development plan.

Assist the Center Coordinator in Implementing Program requirements as center.

Assist the Center Coordinator in planning weekly staff meetings.

In the absence of the Center Coordinator assumes the decision-making role

Adherence to all RCMA funding and DCF requirements
MANDATORY QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS/EDUCATION: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty element satisfactorily while exercising independent judgment and discretion. The individual must meet age, medical, moral character, and any other requirements as defined by Florida Statutes. After initial hire, the employee must complete mandatory child care training (DCF 45 hours) as specified in the DCF Training Addendum and in accordance with Florida Statutes and funding source requirements to retain eligibility to be employed in this position.
OTHER: Must be a farm worker if the purpose of the Center is to provide services to the farm worker community. If the purpose of the Center is to provide services to non-farmworkers, they must be from the community served.
Able to work flexible hours, occasional evenings, and varying daytime shifts during weekdays. Some weekend work is required.
Must be age 21. Have or be able to obtain a Florida driver's license and be able to obtain a Commercial Driver License to operate a School Bus within 30 days of being placed into this position, if required for the work location. A driving record acceptable to RCMA’s insurance carrier is required.
Ability to work with degreed and non-degreed professional staff and families.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Former farm worker background preferred.

Desire to work with young children and be sensitive to their needs.

CDA or a combination of documented child development training and field experience in early childhood education, and satisfactory completion of Senior Teacher Level.

Ability and willingness to provide directives and work with para-professional staff.

Bilingual, where appropriate.
-
Good physical health.
-
Must be certified to operate non-public school vehicles where appropriate.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Experience with economically disadvantaged families in a community setting.

High School diploma or GED.
-
Experience with training and or supervising non-degreed professionals.
