Position Title: Pre-licensed Mental Health Therapist

Location: Lafayette, CO

Duration: Full-time (~32 hours per week)

Salary range: $43/clinical hour and $22/admin hour (~$58,000/year based on 22 sessions/week)

Job Type: W-2

Anticipated Start Date: October 2026

If you’re a soon to be or recent graduate, or pursuing your clinical license and looking for a clinical position, a place to learn new skills, a healthy work/life balance, and the chance to learn how to build and operate your own private practice, you’re in the right spot! Aspen Therapy Collective is a unique private practice with a dual mission of serving the community, as well as developing an enhanced mental health workforce.

Aspen Therapy Collective employees work, on average, for two years before gaining independent licensure. During this time, employees receive individual and group supervision, play therapy training/supervision, and business guidance. The position is W-2 hourly, meaning employees get paid for clinical time, supervision and administrative time. Private practice is hard and rewarding, and our goal is to provide a supportive work environment while you discover how to find the right balance for your future career. Alyssa Wermers (owner and supervisor) is an LCSW and can support LSW, SWC, and LPCC candidates towards licensure hours. She is also a Registered Play Therapy Supervisor and can provide APT approved play therapy supervision. Once an employee achieves independent licensure, the employment relationship ends and (we hope!) the private practice community grows!

Aspen Therapy Collective is a private practice that provides primarily in person and some online psychotherapy to children, adolescents, adults, and families. ATC values inclusivity, diversity, and access to care, and is in-network with several types of insurance, including Medicaid. Our primary clientele are children and each therapy room is equipped for play therapy.

Position Summary:

Aspen Therapy Collective is looking for mental health licensure candidates who are interested in providing play therapy, as well as some individual therapy for adolescents, and adults. The position is office based in Lafayette. The position will require advanced clinical skills, the ability to take initiative and work independently, as well as a desire to connect with a collaborative community. The ideal candidate will also have interest in developing an insurance-based private practice and will be given learning opportunities to develop this throughout the contract period.

At this time, all pre-licensure positions term upon receiving independent licensure. While not a requirement, the goal of the limited term contract is to prepare employees to launch their own insurance-based private practice upon receiving independent licensure.

Position Responsibilities:

· Engage children, adolescents, adults, and families in assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, provide psychotherapy, possible crisis support, and care collaboration.

· Maintain a minimum caseload of 22 completed appointments per week.

· Complete all required documentation in a timely manner.

· Participate in supervision, team meetings, and required trainings.

· Be available at least 4 days a week, and for a minimum of 10 appointments outside of school hours (3 pm and later) each week.

Requirements:

· Graduated with a Masters degree from an accredited university from a program in social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, or related field.

· Registration through DORA as an LSW, SWC, LPCC, or MFTC.

Required Skills:

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

· Ability and commitment to adhere to ethical guidelines

· Strong clinical skills and willingness to learn and grow

· Ability to engage in problem solving

· Good time management and organizational skills

· Ability to engage in play-based therapeutic activities with children, which may include sitting on the floor, bending, reaching, moving between activities, and participating in expressive play.

Preferred qualifications:

· Training and experience in play therapy modalities

· Previous clinical experience

· Evening/weekend availability
