Full Job Description

We are seeking both a Sous Chef to be part of our expanding and bold culinary program at NewVida Preserve (www.newvidapreserve.com). During the peak season, our restaurant is open 5 nights / week, profitable and growing, and serves the most diverse and globally inspired menus in the Adirondacks- along with having the most incredible views of Whiteface Mountain and being situated in a beautiful historical lodge. You'd be part of a 6-person boh team that is passionate, creative, collaborative and calm under pressure and collaborate with a foh team that is top-notch, sustaining customer reviews of 4.7+ across Opentable and Google and receiving various accolades. You'd work under a talented Head Chef that will provide mentorship and career growth opportunties. Classical training is preferred but not required if you have substantive working experience (5+ years) as a Sous Chef, Chef de Cuisine or Station Chef (references will be required). We're looking for a candidate that is committed to their work, innovative and inspired to be part of a growing business. Experience with baking and desserts a huge plus! We have zero tolerance for alcohol/drug abuse and aggressive leadership styles. Candidates are eligible for paid leave and free family membership to the gym and 2000-acre preserve for hiking/biking.

Responsibilities include:

Fostering and leading a collaborative team
Collaborating on menu development
Inventory ordering and management
Cooking and plating dishes in accordance with restaurant standards
Maintaining a clean and compliant kitchen

At 2000 acres, NewVida is the largest year-round resort in the High Peaks and a special gathering place for both the local community and tourists to the area. Formerly known as Paleface Ski Mountain, it's the closest full service resort to Whiteface (only 7 minutes) and includes 35+ miles of trails for hiking, biking, climbing, skiing and cross-country. Our iconic main lodge includes a restaurant, craft bar, game room, lodge, wellness center, private events space and gym.
