About BetterBrain
BetterBrain is pioneering a movement to make evidence-informed brain health accessible to everyone on earth, building on developments in longevity science and AI. Our mission is personal - our founding team either carries the APOE4 gene or has watched loved ones struggle with the disease. We've created a holistic solution that empowers people to prevent dementia, think better, and feel better through our proprietary system combining advanced diagnostics, personalized coaching, and cutting-edge technology.
BetterBrain was founded on the belief that a multi-trillion dollar market for health and longevity will dislodge the existing $10T traditional healthcare industry. We are emerging as the leading platform for brain health, cognitive performance, and dementia prevention, the #1 gap area between clinical care and cutting-edge science. Because “your body is your brain” our approach is deeply aligned with holistic well-being, health optimization, and longevity.
We recently secured a meaningful round of capital from high-profile investors to fund growth and are actively seeking exceptional talent to join our mission.
Role Overview
We're looking for a Founding Nurse Practitioner to launch and shape BetterBrain's clinical services. Our members keep asking for the same thing: real clinical care including diagnosis, labs, prescriptions, ongoing medication management - fully integrated with their data, their dietitian coach, and their plan. One team, one plan, covered by insurance.
This is a true founding clinician role, not a seat on a telehealth assembly line. You'll be our first NP: you'll see our earliest clinical members AND help shape the programs themselves - the protocols, the visit design, the escalation rules, the medication playbooks. The first NP shapes the next ten.
Because your whole body is your brain, our clinical programs target the systems that drive long-term cognitive health: lipid management, blood pressure, metabolic health, weight management and GLP-1 support, menopause (MHT), sleep, and musculoskeletal health. We deliberately keep our scope narrow — prevention and optimization for motivated, commercially insured adults — and aim to practice it at the level of the best preventive clinicians in the country, not at the level of the minimum guideline.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional virtual care: Conduct telehealth intakes and focused follow-ups across our clinical programs — evaluate, diagnose, order and interpret labs, prescribe, and titrate within evidence-based protocols (e.g., ApoB-driven lipid care, modern menopause evidence, thoughtful GLP-1 management)
- Co-build our clinical programs: Along with a team of physicians, pressure-test and refine the protocols and playbooks themselves - where they're right, where they need discretion ranges, and what our AI should surface before and after each visit
- Own the medication experience: Side-effect prevention and management, adherence-first regimen design (the regimen a member will actually take beats the theoretically perfect one), and honest conversations about trade-offs
- Practice as one integrated team: Partner closely with our registered dietitian coaches - you lead the clinical side of each program (with access to world class physician advisors) they lead lifestyle, and every member gets one plan
- Shape our AI-enabled platform: Work daily with AI-generated pre-visit briefs, automated documentation you review and sign (no evening charting), AI-drafted member messages, and quality feedback built for growth - and make all of it better with your clinical judgment
- Support members asynchronously: Handle member questions through our SMS-first, AI-assisted workflow with clear response standards
- Expand our reach: Grow your multi-state licensure with our full funding and administrative support, and eventually help hire and mentor the NPs who come after you
Required Experience:
- Board-certified Nurse Practitioner (FNP, AGPCNP, or WHNP) with an active, unencumbered license and clean history
- 3+ years of practice with experience in at least a subset of: primary care, cardiometabolic health, obesity medicine, women's health/menopause, preventive medicine
- Comfort managing the conditions our programs cover: lipids, hypertension, prediabetes/diabetes, weight and GLP-1s, menopausal hormone therapy
- Telehealth experience (or clear aptitude for short, focused virtual visit formats)
Preferred Experience:
- Licensure in multiple states (10-30+ licenses is a huge asset) - we will fund and support expanding your licensure as a core part of the first year
- Experience building clinical programs, protocols, or quality systems, especially at an early-stage company
- Background or strong interest in prevention, longevity medicine, or brain health
Skills & Mindset:
- Genuinely curious and coachable: you like protocols that encode the best evidence, you flag disagreement openly and expect it to be debated on the merits, and you actively want feedback on your own practice
- High empathy and willingness to deeply understand our audience of 45–75 year olds (skewing female), their concerns about cognitive decline, and how to communicate with authenticity and trust
- A translator: you explain science in plain language for a smart, motivated 50-year-old without jargon — and you treat members as partners in decisions, not patients receiving orders
- Excited (not threatened) by AI doing the routine work so you can focus on judgment and the human relationship
- Self-starter who thrives in fast-paced startup environments where the programs evolve weekly
- Passionate about our mission to prevent dementia and improve brain health
Why join BetterBrain
- Participate in the most epic health disruption of our generation (longevity science and AI)
- Be part of a mission-driven team tackling what we see as the #1 health problem
- Practice medicine the way it should work: a deliberately narrow scope done at the highest level — with the best clinical tooling a practicing physician reviewer has ever seen
- Competitive compensation including base salary, performance incentives, and equity; W-2 employment with flexible structure (open to starting ~part-time with a path to full-time, or full-time from day one)
- Licensing, credentialing, and malpractice fully handled and paid for, with supervising-physician coverage wherever required
Our values
Lead with empathy — We are privileged to be entrusted by people with their most important organ. When faced with a difficult decision, we always do what's best for people's lives.
Challenge the status quo — Our healthcare system is broken — we must challenge/forget everything we've learned. By taking a beginner's mindset, we will rebuild a system in a way that actually works.
Relentlessly pursue excellence — Solving Alzheimer's may be one of the most difficult challenges of our time. This means charging fast at hard problems and not stopping until we achieve our very high bar.
Stay curious, stay humble — The field of brain health is moving at an incredible pace. We are quick to admit when we don't know something and we continuously update our perspective as the science evolves.
Join us in our mission to create a world where dementia is considered an orphan disease.
