The Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster is seeking a detail-oriented Grant Writer to lead grant research, proposal development, reporting, and grants management. This position plays a critical role in securing organizational funding by identifying strong funding opportunities, preparing accurate and competitive proposals, and ensuring timely reporting and compliance for organizational funders.
The ideal candidate is an organized, deadline-driven writer and researcher who can translate program goals, outcomes, budgets, and organizational priorities into clear and persuasive grant materials. This individual will manage the full grant lifecycle, including prospect research, proposal writing, application submissions, award documentation, reporting, compliance tracking, and grant recordkeeping.
This role works closely with leadership, program, and finance staff to gather accurate information, align proposals with organizational priorities, track grant requirements, and maintain clear documentation for submissions, awards, reports, and renewals.
Key Responsibilities
Grant writing, reporting, and grants management
· Research and identify prospective grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, government agencies, and other organizational funders
· Develop, write, and submit compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting materials
· Manage the grants calendar to ensure timely submissions, renewals, and reporting deadlines
· Collaborate with program and finance staff to gather program descriptions, budgets, outcomes, evaluation data, and compliance information
· Maintain accurate grant records, funder files, award documents, reporting requirements, and tracking systems
· Prepare and submit interim and final grant reports, stewardship updates, compliance documentation, and renewal materials
· Support the development of multi-year funding strategies and organizational fundraising initiatives
Grant research and funder coordination
· Monitor funder priorities, application guidelines, eligibility requirements, and reporting expectations to support strong grant strategy
· Develop clear grant narratives that communicate program goals, community needs, measurable outcomes, budget priorities, and alignment with funder requirements
· Participate in funding strategy discussions by sharing research on prospective funders, grant trends, and alignment with organizational priorities
· Assist with maintaining grant-related information within the donor database, CRM system, shared files, and internal tracking tools
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in communications, English, nonprofit management, marketing, journalism, or related field preferred
· Minimum of 2–4 years of grant writing, grant reporting, prospect research, organizational fundraising, or related nonprofit development experience preferred
· Demonstrated success developing grant proposals, managing grant deadlines, preparing funder reports, and securing philanthropic or public funding strongly preferred
· Exceptional writing, editing, research, and analytical skills, with strong attention to accuracy and funder requirements
· Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
· Ability to synthesize program data, budgets, outcomes, and community needs into compelling grant narratives and reports
· Detail-oriented with strong project management skills
· Comfortable collaborating across departments and building relationships with staff and stakeholders
· Experience with donor databases/CRMs and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace preferred

Pay: $65,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
